Dimension for Mixed Media Monthly

Hello mixed media friends and happy April! Our theme for Mixed Media Monthly is Dimension this month. Our sponsor is Stampers Anonymous and our guest designer is the wonderful Wendy Vecchi!!

Below is the challenge graphic which we ask you to add to your post, incase you decide to play along.

Like always there are some super prizes to be won!

And here is the project I created for the challenge:
Dimension can be created in many different ways, and although my project perhaps is not all that dimensional, I hope you can see there are in fact quite a few dimensional elements. Let me quickly take you through my process:
I started with a long Prima Mixed Media tag that had been used to mop up inks from previous projects. I always love these kind of mop ups as a starting point, especially for tags.
I added some stamping with white acrylic paint and then cut some swirls with one of the dies in the Tim Holtz Mixed Media 2 set.
I also stamped the dragonfly from the Tim Holtz Classics 1 set in Jet black Archival ink. Here you see it against a white background, but I wanted to added some further dimension with colour, so I took a second tag and blended colours with Distress Inks roughly where I thought they would show through.
The two tags were adhered together and then I deepened the colours showing through with Faber Castell Big Brush pens.
I also added white around the dragon fly to create more dimension and make it pop.
I stamped and fussy cut a second dragonfly, coloured it with similar colours and added it to the one stamped on my tag, now the wings were dimensional.

Finally the tag was finished with some embellishments from my stash. A flower cluster, a metal embellishment, patina added with the help of paint and at the top the most dimensional metal flower I could find...
I arranged some of the bits that had been cut away from the swirls around it and finished it all with some dimensional letter stickers.

Well, that's it from me for today. Please do go over to the Mixed Media Challenge blog to get all the details of the challenge and to see the wonderful projects from my team mates, and hopefully you'll decide to play along. We would love to see you there!

Have a fabulous weekend and happy creating!!

Another little masterpiece Astrid, great idea adhering the two pieces to achieve the relief effect from the die cutting.

Wee Astrid this looks plenty dimensional from where I am looking. A beautiful tag with lovely layers, love the dragonfly and the way you have made it pop with the white. I also like the use of the 'waste' from the die cut at the top of the tag giving more flourishes to back the flower. Mo x

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
