The colour Red

Hello everyone and welcome! Today I am sharing a card full of passion, it was created for the challenge over at The Artistic Stamper. This month you are asked to use the colour red.
Now red is not a colour I normally use very often, so this was quite a challenge.
I started with a piece of card cut to 3.5 by 5.5". I gave it a swipe of Gesso and then added the words Love with Passion and the heart with the help of some Crafters Workshop stencils:
I stamped into the heart while the stencil paste was still wet with a text stamp.

I then coloured the background with Distress Patnts, Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap and Walnut stain. The edges were darkened further still with some coffee archival ink. I coloured the heart red with a Marvy Le Plume marker and added some dark shadow with a Black Soot Distress marker.
The rose was stamped onto tissue paper with black archival. I tore it out and then coloured the back with white acrylic paint, making sure to stay inside the edges of the stamp. When that had dried, I turned the tissue over, coloured the rose red with the same marker I had used for the heart, and coloured the leaves with a Peeled Paint Distress Marker. I then adhered it to my panel with gel medium. Because of the white paint which made the rose image opaque, it now showed up against the dark background.
The panel was mounted onto some embossed red Core d'nations card and finished with a little banner from the new Tim Holtz tattered banners and a charm:

Hope you will check out our challenge over at The Artistic Stamper. A random winner will win a stamp set of their choice, so we all hope you will play along!
Well, I hope you like my card, thank you for visiting and have a creative week! See you next time!

SO beautiful! It's always a challenge to play with a color you're not loving, but it seems like this is a natural part of your palette. I love the dramatic rose, too!

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
