The Case of the Missing Mojo or when Prima meets Tim Holtz

Hi everyone and lovely to see you here.
In the last few days I have been working like crazy scheduling all of my design team posts for when I am away and with that on top of being right at the end of the school term, things have felt rather busy. I apologize for maybe also not being as regular as I would like to, in visiting your lovely blogs.

Anyway, with all projects pretty much out of the way I had some time to create something just for myself but of course, Mr Mojo had decided to go on holiday already.... what now? Well I found this video on you tube and decided to just have a play with some of the many papers that are filling drawers full in my craftroom, here is what appeared:
It's a little wallet style mini book full of flaps for photos and pockets for tags. The details of the construction can all be found in the video if you are interested, so I'll just show you what I made of it.
Obviously the picture above shows the wallet closed, it does so with a magnet.
Here you can see it all open. The sides fold up accordion style. The whole thing is made of two pieces of 12 x 12 Kraft card and the construction is actually really easy. I covered each part with left over papers from the Tim Holtz Wallflower paper Stash and then embellished with journaling tickets and bits and pieces of various old Prima collections, mainly Romance Novel and Tea Thyme. I'll let the photos do the talking:
Here you can see how the flaps fold in.

The left flap folded over again, paper enhanced with stencils and stamping.

And the same with the flap on the right.

An extra pocket at the bottom, - this was an adaption of the design in the video, space for more tags or photos.
Here you can see some of the tags inside that particular pocket
One of the side pockets, there is one on each side as the whole little book is symmetrical.
The wallet with all the flaps folded in. Here you can see how it closes with the magnet.

And finally some of the tags and an extra little envie for notes and things.

Well, there you have it, a little wallet mini book. It's coming with me next week when I go off to Australia to see my grand children and I will keep all my favourite memories and photos of my time there inside when I come back. This was great fun to make and really quite quick and easy to do and I know already I will make more of these. They will make great gifts as well and could be done in so many different styles.

Thanks for visiting and have a good Sunday!!

Jeepers - well, if that's what happens when the Mojo is missing....!!!

Absolutely glorious make, Astrid - the papers are beautiful and those flowers on the top are simply lovely. The wallet, its pockets, and all the internal tags are just perfect. This will make such a wonderful place to store all those treasured photos and memories of your visit.

I love it, the whole construction is compact and very attractive to the eye, all the little details you have added to the papers enhance the album and connects all the pages wonderfully. Great make. I hope you have a safe journey to Australia, just a hop, skip and jump from me. Hope the weather is good, enjoy the time with the Grand-children too.

I can quite understand how your mojo could have been worn out by a huge stint of DT work. Must check out that video as this is superb. I love the way it all folds out and how you've used the various pieces of paper together with stencilling and stamping to coordinate and combine beautifully. Even when you're tired you're brilliant! Once again I find myself sitting in awe of your paper construction skills.
I know if I even attempted this I would end up with something that would certainly not resemble a book.
Beautiful papers but your use of stencils, inks, etc elevate them so beautifully.

This really is a gorgeous project Astrid. I love those papers and anything with the vintage feel so this is right up my street. Thank you for the link. I feel so inspired by your design, I am going to a wedding in August where they have asked for no gifts, but I fancy making one of these as a memento of their special day for them. Perfect. Enjoy your trip, I am sure it will be special. Elaine x

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
