Sparkle and Shine...

Hello everyone, welcome to one and all and especially new followers. Thank you for wanting to be part of my crafty journey!

All week I have been wondering about what to do for the new Compendium of Curiosities 3 second challenge. The theme this fourtnight is Distress Glitter.
Tim describes this technique on page 56 of the book. Now like quite a few people, I am definitely not a glitter girl, well apart from at Christmas perhaps, and only have 4 colours of the Distress Glitter. The only one I really like (just being honest here) is the Rockcandy Clear one, which is not even a true Distress Glitter... But a challenge is a challenge, so I took a deep breath, made a card, and used all of my glitters on various bits and pieces.

I''m not going to do a full step by step for this one, I'll just show you a few close ups. Glitter is of course always hard to photograph, and I only used it sparingly, so this might not even qualify...
I used all 4 colours on the leaves cut with the Tim Holtz Garden Greenery die (Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Broken China and Clear Rockcandy). The rose, made with the Tattered Florals die only has the Rockcandy glitter, and I have to say, I like how it turned out. The sparkle sadly does not at all show up on the photo.
The bottle is from the Mercantile set. The banner with the words Sparkle and Shine, is a Spellbinder die. I don't have the new Tim banners yet, which are much nicer I think.
Below is a close up of just the feather, also a Spellbinders die, it was glittered with Antique Linen and Clear Rockcandy glitter.
To be honest, it looked much nicer before I added the glitter.....

As you probably know there are fabulous prizes to be won, as the challenge is sponsored by Tim and Mario themselves, but this time also by the fabulous Linda from the Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Even though I am not overly excited with the result, I had great fun playing with the technique and making it my own.

Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you will have a creative week!!

I love your less is more approach to the glittering Astrid (I am not a great glitter girl either) and the colours you have chosen work perfectly together. Just finished mine, but perhaps I put just a tad too much glitter on mine..... Hugs, Anne xx

Astrid what a gorgeous creation! I'm so glad you breathed out and sprinkled that glitter. It looks FABULOUS! I think it looks better when you use more than one colour, as you did, especially on the feather. I have all the glitters and really need to play with them some more. Karen.x

It's delicious, Astrid... I'm no glitter girl either (in fact, I shan't be playing this time as the Glitters didn't make the cut for the travelling stash!), but used subtly like this and, of course, in the perfect colours, they do add a lovely sparkle. Gorgeous embossed frame too!

Oh Astrid, I love those men, whatever they are: bakers or butchers,...in the middle of your gorgeous blue frame, with flower and glitter . It is lovely embossed and the sparckle from the glitter is in my opinion, beautiful when used in small portions like you did here.
A wonderful card!!!

Astrid....once again you have created something that I LOVE! This is absolutely beautiful ... vintage at it's best. You may only have 4 glitter colors but you have used them to perfection here! I love your design and the way you've used Tim's French Industrial papers in the background with the embossed picture frame on top. The ink bottle and the feather are such beautiful embellishments as are the sweet flowers and the banner. LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing your art with us at CC3C. <3 Candy

I love your multi colored flower, foliage and feather with the light dusting of shimmer! This is totally gorgeous! Hugs and thank you for the hug Brenda gave me!

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
