All week I have been wondering about what to do for the new Compendium of Curiosities 3 second challenge. The theme this fourtnight is Distress Glitter.
Tim describes this technique on page 56 of the book. Now like quite a few people, I am definitely not a glitter girl, well apart from at Christmas perhaps, and only have 4 colours of the Distress Glitter. The only one I really like (just being honest here) is the Rockcandy Clear one, which is not even a true Distress Glitter... But a challenge is a challenge, so I took a deep breath, made a card, and used all of my glitters on various bits and pieces.
I''m not going to do a full step by step for this one, I'll just show you a few close ups. Glitter is of course always hard to photograph, and I only used it sparingly, so this might not even qualify...
I used all 4 colours on the leaves cut with the Tim Holtz Garden Greenery die (Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Broken China and Clear Rockcandy). The rose, made with the Tattered Florals die only has the Rockcandy glitter, and I have to say, I like how it turned out. The sparkle sadly does not at all show up on the photo.
The bottle is from the Mercantile set. The banner with the words Sparkle and Shine, is a Spellbinder die. I don't have the new Tim banners yet, which are much nicer I think.
Below is a close up of just the feather, also a Spellbinders die, it was glittered with Antique Linen and Clear Rockcandy glitter.
To be honest, it looked much nicer before I added the glitter.....
As you probably know there are fabulous prizes to be won, as the challenge is sponsored by Tim and Mario themselves, but this time also by the fabulous Linda from the Funkie Junkie Boutique.
Even though I am not overly excited with the result, I had great fun playing with the technique and making it my own.
Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you will have a creative week!!

I love this Astrid! Great use of Distress Glitter! My project is done. Now to hit publish:)
LOVE THIS! Really really love! The feather in the bottle looks like paint is exploding out the top. I love the colours you've used and the cabinet card is GORGEOUS! Another of my favourites from this challenge. Thanks for sharing Astrid. :)
I think it's beautiful Astrid, just enough glitter on a few embellishments and the colours are GORGEOUS!
Love the glitter and how you have used it, and I must confess to being a glitter and bling girl! Beautiful piece Astrid! Hugs, Valerie
I love your less is more approach to the glittering Astrid (I am not a great glitter girl either) and the colours you have chosen work perfectly together. Just finished mine, but perhaps I put just a tad too much glitter on mine..... Hugs, Anne xx
Ein würdiger Rahmen für das Foto, ich bin begeistert!
Liebe Grüße, Bärbel

Love the blues and all of the pieces you 'glittered' up Astrid! Great design using a smaller frame over the large picture!
You have made this card special. It has glitter only in a special way. It is hard to find the richt words. And most important you enjoyed making this project. I really love it Astrid. Thank you for letting me enjoy too. Anneke.

Astrid! Gorgeous design, and love the glitter! Just stunning! Thank you so much for playing along with us at CC3Challenge!!!
Astrid what a gorgeous creation! I'm so glad you breathed out and sprinkled that glitter. It looks FABULOUS! I think it looks better when you use more than one colour, as you did, especially on the feather. I have all the glitters and really need to play with them some more. Karen.x
That is so gorgeous Astrid. I love the feather.
I love it, Astrid, the most beautiful colours and I'm liking the glitter.

It's delicious, Astrid... I'm no glitter girl either (in fact, I shan't be playing this time as the Glitters didn't make the cut for the travelling stash!), but used subtly like this and, of course, in the perfect colours, they do add a lovely sparkle. Gorgeous embossed frame too!

Beautiful colors and images!!!
EXTRAORDINARY BEAUTIFUL Astrid! ♥

Hey Astrid, this is absolutely gorgeous!!! I'm definitely with you on the less is more with the glitter, it can be overwhelming at times but you've used it beautifully here especially mixing the colours. The feather looks fabulous too. Gorgeous colours as always and fabulous design. Just want to thank you too Astrid for your lovely comments on my blog. I so appreciate your support. ox
Gorgeous Astrid! It is beautiful with color and composition!

Oh Astrid, I love those men, whatever they are: bakers or butchers,...in the middle of your gorgeous blue frame, with flower and glitter . It is lovely embossed and the sparckle from the glitter is in my opinion, beautiful when used in small portions like you did here.
A wonderful card!!!
Hugs, Dorthe
Ooooooo love this Astrid, fabulous colour and detail. Flora xx
I am sorry I have to disagree, I do like what you have made. Don´t be too critical with yourself
Astrid....once again you have created something that I LOVE! This is absolutely beautiful ... vintage at it's best. You may only have 4 glitter colors but you have used them to perfection here! I love your design and the way you've used Tim's French Industrial papers in the background with the embossed picture frame on top. The ink bottle and the feather are such beautiful embellishments as are the sweet flowers and the banner. LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing your art with us at CC3C. <3 Candy
Hi Astrid, I adore your creation, the image & detail is wonderful...I love the glitter...Love it... Hugs May x x
Once again I am in Awe over your gorgeous "Glittered" work of art! Like you, I am not a glitter girl, so I can so appreciate the effort that goes into using glitter in a subtle, but beautiful way! I love your multi colored flower, foliage and feather with the light dusting of shimmer! This is totally gorgeous! Hugs and thank you for the hug Brenda gave me!
WOW Astrid, this is just fabulous! Such wonderful colours and the flowers and feather are amazing and sparkling to perfection! Jennie x
It's just enough glitter, the frame is freaking gorgeous,, looks like it has been stored in an attic for ages, the colors are blended so beautifully, I love everything you make, always inspiring me, thanks so much for visiting my nest and leaving such wonderful comments, I haven't had much time to spend on line, have a wonderful week, ((( BIG HUGS )))
