Get texty - a journal page for Mixed Media Monthly

Hello everyone, welcome and Happy June!! The first of the month means a new challenge at Mixed Media Monthly and this month I am sharing a journal page with you.
But before I show you how I put this together, let me tell you what our awesome theme is this month:
It's our second anniversary this month and like last year, you can choose any theme from the past year, so plenty of choice to get creative!
I chose our theme from #15 get texty, and here is the badge for that theme:
Like always we have a sponsor and this month it is no other than The Funkie Junkie!! Our winner will win a fabulous $25 gift voucher, how lucky is that? And what's more, there will be other random prizes during the month, all generously donated by The Funkie Junkie Boutique,
so make sure to keep checking back regularly!!
Anyway, on to my project.
I created a quick background by mixing some brusho powders with gel medium and brushing them all over my background. I then added some messy stamping and stencilling with water, which left white marks here and there as the stamps were a little too wet.
I wasn't too fond of the effect so toned it all down with some light coloured acrylic paint
As I had chosen "Get Texty" as my theme, I adhered some Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap and various tissue and washi tapes that contained text and adhered them down with Tim Holtz Vintage Collage Medium to blend them into the background.
I created a little pocket envelope and other vintage looking paper embellishment using some scraps of designer paper and a variety of stamps.
I positioned them onto my pages and added a little vintage image as a focal point. Some strips of old book paper, a bit of stencilling, a sentiment created with letter stickers and a pen nib finished it all off.
Below are some detailed photos still:

Lots of different texty elements as I hope you can see...
Well that's it, I had great fun putting this vintage double page together, hope you liked it and of course we all hope you will play along with our challenge, with so many different themes to choose from, there should be something for everyone.

Thanks so much for dropping by here, like always you can get all the details of our challenge over on the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog. Hope to see you there and have a great month!!

Angel of Time

Hello all and thanks for dropping by. I don't know about you, but recently I have really struggled with time and balancing life between day job, crafting, blogging and social media....
This page came about while struggling with issues like that, - trying to carve out some time to create art, without feeling guilty I should actually be visiting blogs and leaving comments etc. I am really sorry I have been a bad blogger recently, I know I am missing posts from many of you and I do want to apologize!!

This page started on a loose piece of watercolour paper that was covered with a thick layer of gesso and texture paste and then coloured with various Decoart Media paints. I added many layers with subtle background stamping in between.

Further textures were also created with dabbing my finger into the still wet gesso and then dry brushing with lighter paint colours. The little gears above are actually old clock parts I purchased on ebay a long time ago (I found them when doing a massive clear out recently). I rusted them up a bit with rusting powder and vinegar.
The sentiment was created with the help of a set of little letter stamps on A4 paper and then cut into words.
Here you can see some of the background stamping and splats and scrapes created with the help of a small paint brush and an old credit card.
This main stamp is from La Blanche. I named her Angel of Time and stamped her on tissue paper and then blended her into the page. I added a few more clock parts to the center of the clock in the stamp.

Well that's it pretty much. Thanks for your visit today like always and I hope I shall find the time to come and visit you in return. Maybe my angel of time will help me.

Have a wonderful weekend with hopefully some creativity within it.

Victorian Christmas

Hello everyone and welcome, specially also to new followers! Lovely to have you join me on my creative journey!
Today I am sharing a page in my water colour journal.
Ever since it started, I have been wanting to play in the Artist Trading Post new challenge blog, and every time I have just missed the deadline.
When I saw the new theme Stencil Mania hosted my the amazing Julia, I was so inspired by all the fantastic DT samples, that I knew I just had to prioritize for it straight away. So here is my journal page, full of stencilling....

The background to this page started as a kind of mop up page from other projects, picking up various Lindy's Stampgang and Tim Holtz sprays.

Then because of the challenge theme I added texture and crackle pastes through various Martha Stewart and Memory Box stencils, and when dry I added some Golden Acrylic Paint and Walnut Stain Distress Spray over the raised bits and highlighted with treasure gold. Here are some close ups:

As you can probably see I also did some more stencilling in the back ground with various Tim Holtz layering stencils and both Archival and Distress Inks. I also stamped and gold embossed a La Blanch swirl stamp in various places.

From that point on, the page kind of took on a life of its own and turned into a sort of Victorian Christmas page. (It was meant to have been something quite different originally)...
This little victorian Christmas angel (from the Papermania Vintage Christmas collection), was flying around on my desk, and she called out to me that she wanted to be placed there. So after that I then stamped and inked a Christmas tree stamp and added it to another corner of the page to balance it all out a bit. (No idea anymore who made that stamp, it's been in my box of Christmas stamps for ages).
I added some Ancient Gold embossing powder around the edges and adhered it to the page, covering up most of the crackled stencilling, ah well, too bad, it kind of just looked as if it was needed there.

The final bit was to add some bits of tissue tape and the words created with the little Tim Holtz letter tiles. I also added some snowflakes still, stamped in white Distress Paint and some highl;ight for a bit of festive sparkle with Diamond Stickles.
I am adding this to the Artist Trading Post Stencil Mania challenge
That's Crafty Anything Vintage challenge

Thanks for coming by to look and have a creative week!!!

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
