More Gelato fun

Hello friends and thanks for dropping in. Today I have another quote page in my Bulletjournal to share, again inspired by the work of Valerie Sjodin, in fact I am using one of her own quotes.
I set up the page in pencil first. And then I went over it all with my thinnest black Micron pen (0.05)
Next I coloured all the imagerie with Prisma Premier coloured pencils, building everything up with very thin layers. And finally did the background with Gelatos.
I found since doing my last page that the best and smoothest way to blend these without using any water, is with sponge daubers. I scribble some gelato on my glass cutting mat (I am sure an acrylic block or none stick craft mat would work just as well). Rub over it with the sponge dauber and then blend it onto the page. The colours just blend beautifully and everything stays really transparent which I love.
Here's a close up of the central quote still. I copied the quote from the Valerie Sjodin colouring book Colorful Blessings. All the rest is my own design.

Well that's it for today. Have a good week and happy crafting and creating!

Bullet Journal, - the journey continues

Hello lovely visitors, - I hope the new year has started well for you so far.
Today I am sharing some of my completed bullet journal pages and my set up for Janauary so far.
There is not much to say about the pages really, I think they speak for themselves.
Here first of all are my final December pages:

All the elements are hand drawn. For those of you who are into stationery, I used Micron pens, Tombow Brushmarkers and Crayola Supertips. I just noticed that I photographed the above spread before it was filled in, trust me, I filled all of it in by now πŸ˜„.

For the new year I decided to change things up a bit, - this is what I love about bullet journaling, it is totally up to you how you want to do it.

A hand-lettered quote and the 2018 title page, because I starated in October there is still loads of space left in this journal, so I decided to just continue in the same one ( The Leuchtturm1917 dotted journal).
This is probaly my favourite page in the whole journal so far, unlike the January page below, which I don't like at all, but hey ho, some pages work and some don't, I guess it's all good practice. That's one of the things I like about bullet journaling, not only does it help me to stay on track, it also makes me paint and draw almost every day.

I decided to go with a sort of snowy wintry theme for my January pages, and my accent colour is grey. There will be more January pages to follow, but for now I will finish with my future log where I can note down any main things coming up between now and June.
Well that's it for now, thanks for your visit. I know this is not the usual mixed media stuff I normally blog, but it's part of my artistic journey right now, and therefore I decided to post these kind of spreads here every once in a while. I have decided to add this to Susi's Art Journal Journey where the theme is new adventures.

Bulletjournal November 2017 flip through

Hello friends,
Today I want to share the next instalment of my bullet journal. If you do not know what a bullet journal is, you can check out my first post HERE, or even better read the information on the official bullet journal website HERE

This is my December cover page, hand drawn and designed by me😊

I know this is not what you usually see on my blog, but I love bullet journalling. It keeps me organised, it's the perfect balance between the left and right side of my brain, - helps me do something creative everyday and practise my lettering. Below a quick video of my November pages, I thought that might be better than sharing lots of photos, for if you are not interested, you can just move on.
.

Well that's it for now, - short and sweet, - we are all busy, but I hope you find some time to be creative too.

Jumping on the Bulletjournal train

Hello all and thanks for dropping by this very quiet blog... As most of you know I am away from home spending time with my grandchildren and blogging has had to take a bit of a back seat. But, whenever there is a moment I try to create something, and today I have something very different to share with you.
Those who know me well, know that I love planners and journals. I have used a variety of planners, shop bought and home made for years. There are an endless variety of planners out there and a huge planner community.

For a while now I have been watching the phenomenon of bullet journaling. If you don't know what a bullet journal is, you can find out about it HERE.
The more I found out about bullet journalling, the more I liked it, as you can adapt it to whatever works for you. It can be as clean and simple, or as colour, - and artful as you like and there are some amazing artists out there who are into this planning system and can give you great inspiration. Both Pinterest and Instgram are great to find them, there are also hundreds of youtubes. Basically all you need is a pen and a notebook to get started, but after that you can make it as fancy as you want.
Anyway, onto my pages, as I started this in October, the first page shows my October cover page. Cover pages are a bit of an extra really, but it's those creative aspects I really enjoy and that get me into the mood. Below some close ups:
I used coloured pencils, pens and some colourful washi tapes. While in China I found some amazing washi tapes on Etsy, really different ones from the usual brightly coloured tapes, if you are interested, here are some links:

One of the things I love about the bullet journal concept is that I can practise both my lettering and my drawing, while at the same time giving some structure to my life, something I know I am going to need during retirement. So here are some further samples:

My monthly overview spread for this month, basically giving a quick view of the month ahead.

I also do weekly spreads and the one for this week is below:

Weekly spreads can contain lots of trackers, habits, sleep, water consumption, whatever you want, and ofcourse each day will have to dos and events listed too - that is the beauty of this system. You are totally free to make it your own and add what you like or find useful.

Finally people also add "collections", pages where you note down things you want to remember or keep track of. Below just a couple I have done so far, - I plan to do several more, but that will keep for another time...
No more forgetting birthdays with this list. Each month I can refer back to this and add the list of people to my monthly spread which also has a section for birthdays.

Well, that's it for now, hope my usual followers are not too disappointed that this is not my usual vintage mixed media stuff, but when I am back home again at some point next month, normal blogging will start again. Until such time, thanks for dropping by today, have a good week and happy creating!

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
