A Vintage Journey Put A Stamp On It- My journal set up for 2019

Hello lovely friends and visitors, it's Friday, so that means posting day and today's post will double up for both my Creative Guide project for A Vintage Journey, and my regular Friday post which this week will feature my journal and planner set up for 2019.
I have decided that 2019 will be my year of journaling, more than any other creative outlet. The theme at AVJ is "Put A Stamp On It, and Deb our fabulous host has this to say about the challenge:
For this challenge we would like to see some stamps on your creations, a minimum of one stamp but the more the merrier!  Stamp your backgrounds, fussy cut or die cut some stamped images, add some stamped sentiments; whatever you'd like as long as it is in one of our preferred vintage, shabby, mixed media, art journaling, industrial or steam punk styles".

So for this post I thought I would share some of the ways I use stamps at least for some of my journals.

The photo above is from what is probably my favourite journal. It is a midori sized journal that was part of a stationery box I received as a Christmas present from my daughter. You can see the cover and further page in the post below if you are interested.
Apart from the journal insert this lovely box was filled with wonderful vintage ephemera, a stamp, washi tape and lace. It comes from a Finish outlet called Paper Garden. This journal will be filled with uplifting quotes and sayings that I collect through the year. Stamps are used to enhance the pages and create some further ephemera.
A few close ups below.
On this page the main stamp is actually a wax seal, but I guess as I stamped it myself, it could count as stamping too right?
Here is a further page created with a mix of washi stickers and stamps.
The hand stamp was stamped on a scrap of tea dyed paper I still had in my stash from previous junk journal.
Another piece of home made  stamped ephemera this one functions as a flap for extra journaling on the back.
Here you can see the other side. All the quotes are written with a dip pen, the other journaling is all done with a fountain pen, something else I want to do much more of this year. Below just a couple more of the pages prepped to start journaling on in the days to come:
The postcard on the right forms a pocket for further journaling cards.
Well, so far the junk journal. Onto the next one....

Some of you may remember that last year I kept a bullet journal. I kept that going for just over a year and have shown pages from it on and off. Towards the end of this year I was getting more and more frustrated with the quality of the paper, and so I decided it had to go and has now been replaced with one of Dyan Reaveley's Creative Diaries. One of my oldest blog friends, Yvonne, who some of you will know as Meggys Way, always shared her version on Fridays last year, and inspired me to keep one myself. So below my version that will function as my new planner.

The original diary has Dyan's artwork on the right side page, from time to time I may incorporate some of that, but for this first week I simply gessoed right over it and then did my own things. Stamps are mainly used to frame the edges, and I am happy to say, the quality of the paper is great!
My final journal that I'll share today is another totally new venture and does not include any stamping at all I'm afraid to say. Recently I discovered this book Draw your Day by Samantha Dion Baker. It's a guide to keep a sketch journal, something I have wanted to do for a long time in an effort to improve my drawing and watercolour skills. So the final two photos are the pages from this journal I have done so far.

Well, that's it for today and another week. Do go over to A Vintage Journey to see the wonderful stamped creations my talented teamies have created and of course we would love to see you play along to share your.

Finally, and completely unrelated, Hunkydory for whom I did some designing last year are looking for new design team members, - if you are interested you can find all the details HERE and for people interested in stamping HERE
Thank you so much for visiting today and I hope 2019 will bring you lots of happiness and creativity!

All of your journals are beautiful Astrid but have to say I am totally smitten with your junk journal, it is exquisite! Adore how you incorporate the stamping on found bits and bobs and marry them together so seamlessly, truly a work of art and heart. Thanks so much for sharing all of your journals and for joining in the challenge, Deb xo

Thank you so much for sharing this peek inside your private journal. I think it's such a lovely thing to have a place set aside for jotting down those fleeting thoughts or inspiring words, and how much more lovely that it is such a beautiful object in itself. There's inspiration in these pages even without any words being added. And yes, of course the wax seal counts as stamping - a fabulous touch!

You have created the most stunning journal, that was such a thoughtful gift from your daughter - perfect! I love collecting quotes too, maybe I should pimp up my quote book ...lol 😉. It's wonderful how we are inspired by others and I really enjoyed seeing Yvonne's planner pages last year 😁. Your first pages are amazing, I love the design and the colour palette is so beautiful! Then there is your drawing journal with your amazing paintings! It looks like you have all your favourite art techniques covered with your three new journal/planner ventures, what fun! What a creative year you have ahead of you! Enjoy and Happy Weekend! J 😊 x

Wow an amazing post to see and read Astrid. Your journals and planners look gorgeous and your colour combinations as well as the details you add are beautiful.
I am looking forward to seeing your planner. The paper in Dyans diary is good
quality and it takes quite a few paint layers as I can vouch for. I never used as much gesso as I did in mine last year especially on some of the patterned pages.
Have a good weekend.
Yvonne xx

I think the wax seal definitely counts as stamping - great stamping even! I always love seeing your beautiful journals Astrid and I really do admire your ability to keep up with them too, I could never be so disciplined. Your coloured sketches are so beautiful, the cottage door looks amazing! Hope you have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Anne xx

I can see why you like this journal Astrid. One detail you used that I really like is the stamp into the hot wax. That adds such a wonderful detail. As do so many pieces you've added. And very nice journaling too. I will look forward to your Friday journaling to see how it is going. Have a great weekend. And I don't think I wished you a wonderful 2019 either. Hugs-Erika

So beautiful Astrid, I remember how frustrating it was with the quality of paper last year and when you are entering precious art and line work you really do need something more substantial. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you delivery the DYAN Diary as I so enjoyed Yvonnes. Love how the diary pages move from one year to the next a very inventive way to move into the new year.
Wishing you a very Happy & Healthy 2019.
Big creative Hugs Tracey xx

I've really enjoyed having a cuppa coffee with you with morning, Astrid, as I catch up on your latest postings. I have been a terrible blogger--life just gets in the way. Your journal pages are all stunning, and I love the inclusion of the wax stamping. Every where I look my eyes are delighted by your artwork, and I especially love your hand drawn and painted journal-draw your day is a fabulous idea! So I have to roll Merry Christmas and Happy New Year all into one. I do hope to be a better blogger this year, but I'm already trying to figure out how I will get through the pile of work waiting for me downstairs today! Sending warm hugs and thanks for your wonderful inspiration!

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
