Nature Journal page 2

Hello friends, hope the month is going well for you so far. I have loved workig in my new Eileen Hull nature journal, and today I am sharing the next two pages. And thank you all so much for your encouraging comments on the first pages I showed.
This time I took the photos before actualling journalling on these pages, - hence the empty spaces.

I have always loved painting and drawing, and after years of having mainly used stamps, collage etc etc, it is great to combine my various paper crafting loves in a little journal like this.
Here in Scotland we are very much in the transition from winter into some more springlike days, and I love drawing branches that are just starting to show their buds. Pinecones are always a challenge, but I am quite happy with how this one turned out.
Here you can see some of the collage bits I used around the hand painted images.
For this page I took inspiration from a photo posted by Pamellia Johnson. I am sure most of you will be familiar with her wonderful work. She is not only the queen of shabby chic cards, but also posts the most amazing wildlife photos.
Pamellia, if you see this, I hope you don't mind I copied your wonderful starling photo....
The feather at the bottom was a very old stamp, that I thought could do with another work out.

You may just have noticed that this page is smaller than the one on the left, this is what I love about making your own journals, you can vary the size and kind of papers of the different pages, - I like the random effect of that.

Well, that's it for today, and like always, thank you for taking the time to drop in! I always really appeciate your visits!
xxxxx

I was sure the pine cone was a stamp, but it is so much better as a drawing. I love your inspiring journal. It is lovely. Pamela's wildlife photos are absolutely amazing and you have done her a great honor with your starling. I will continue to follow your journal progress.

This is such a lovely idea - using different ways to show nature. It would be great to get out some older things I have and copy your journal idea so that they all get some use. I think having my granddaughter practice her lettering my printing or writing descriptions under each would be a good way to produce a beautiful keepsake for me and then later for her. Just beautiful and inspirational!

What a gorgeous journal! You are such a talented artist, Astrid! I had completely lost my mojo for a long time - I had gotten so immersed in rubber stamp art, and then just found that I no longer knew what I wanted to do. I had done a lot of drawing in my younger years, so I am quite rusty, and just having a journal full of my inadequate sketches was depressing. But you have totally inspired me! This type of thing is exactly what I need - to combine collage, drawing, and rubber stamping, all on the same pages. Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing your journey and your journal! Can't wait to follow along on your future pages. These are so, so beautiful!

Your Nature journal has the most beautiful artwork in it! The stamping and collage are lovely but it is your observational painting that really does star here! The starling is just like the one on Pamellia's blog! Chrisx

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
