On Your Travels

Hi everyone and I hope you are having a good month!
I am sharing a travel themed project on the Countryview Challenges Blog today and here are the details of my project:
It's a little Kraftcard pocket which could be used as part of a travel journal, to keep tickets, memorabilia or whatever you fancy. It could be a great little gift as well for someone setting out on their travels and could hold a gift card or some travel money....
It started out looking like this:
I had this envelope in my stash, but of course you could easily make one from scratch, or use a pocket die from Sizzix for instance. (This one is about 5 x 6" so a bit larger than most dies)...
I started by roughly scraping on some Gesso and then added some crackle paste through a Tim Holtz layering stencil.
Next I added some scraps from a paper serviette and then added colour with the help of Walnut Stain and Tea Dye Distress Inks and Sprays.
Here you can see how the crackle paste resists the inks but lets it seep into the cracks. I always love the effect of this.
The final step was to add some collage images, cut from a Prima Cartographer 6 x 6 paper pack and some stamping using the Tim Holtz Correspondence set.
The front of the envelope was done in a very similar way. Here the focal point was another part of the same paper serviette.
The hot air balloon was fussy cut from the same Prima papers and adhered with foam pads for a bit of depth.

Some background stamping with stamps from the Correspondence set, love these stamps they are so versatile.
The word Journey was die cut from Kraft card with a Cheery Lynne die.
Well, that's it pretty much, hope you like my little travel pouch and remember, there is still plenty of time to add a project to our challenge, hope to see you there!
Thank you for taking the time to drop in here

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
