I am delighted to let you know that after a month's break, the Our Creative Corner challenge blog is re-opening with a new challenge set by the wonderful Alison from Words and Pictures. The theme she has chosen is "With a Song in your Heart". Each of the design team were asked to choose their favourite song and create a project around it.
I created a tag, dedicated to one of my favourite song writers, Pete Seeger, who passed away this February.
The song I chose is called Garbage. It is quite a dark song, but I chose it because I wanted to show how ahead of his time Pete Seeger was when he wrote this song in the 70s. It's as relevant now as it was then. Here is a link to the song, if you want to have a listen:

But onto my tag: I created the background with a mix of Dylusion Sprays in various Blues and Black.I also used some Distress Paints in Bundled Sage and Picket Fence. Some texture was added with the help of a couple of Crafters Workshop stencils, Gothic Romans and Specimens. I used Decoart texture paste as it is pure white.
Here you can see a bit peeping out underneath part of the song text which I computer generated and then distressed with a Tim Holtz pen nib added.
My vocal stamp was a La Blanche steam punk one, for some reason I thought it fitted my theme.
I added a Melissa Frances resin crown, distressed with some paint and a bit of treasure gold. For me Pete Seeger will always be the king of Folk Music. The stamp was stamped on smooth card and then fussy cut and adhered to the tag. I added some dark drips with more Dylusions and a small brush.
Some Tim Holtz letter stickers, some Tissue Tape and a few scraps of old book paper finished it all off

You brilliantly depicted the feel of this song Astrid, I popped over to listen to it as it's not one I remember. The blues and black with a touch of green create a feeling of smog and the texture is all about the mess we leave in the world. A great tag xx

I too remember that song back from the 70´s and it´s probably more relevant than ever, and your tag really show it well and it´s soo awesome and beautiful made, and I don´t think, it´s too dark either, I really love, how it looks.

I only recently watched "Gravity" so I know now that we do not only fill the sky with garbage but space too.
Love that distressed text panel and the black letter stickers are the perfect addition!

How brilliant, Astrid - the grungy look is so perfect to reflect the dark matter of the song, and what a brilliant song it is! I grew up on Little Boxes and of course Where Have All The Flowers Gone (Marlene Dietrich usually!) - and I love how your post pays tribute to a fantastic singer songwriter.
The colours on the tag are yummy, and the finish on that pen nib is amazing - what a great response to the challenge, thank you!

This one truly is ahead of his time ,when written,- and oh so terrible true.

What a fantastic piece, Astrid! Your textured background is so fantastic. Thanks for reminding me of what is really important. I don't know why, but this song totally escaped me back in the 60's - too caught up in the Beatles, I guess :) I read all the lyrics and wow, they should have stopped us in our tracks back then and still should. Sensational!
