Clean and simple???

Hello everyone and I hope you are all well and happy.

As you may have noticed, Fashionable Stamping Challenges are having a challenge this fourtnight with the theme of one layer cards or CAS cards.

Now anybody who knows me, also knows that I do not do CAS. Though I have been stamping for years I have only once in my life done a CAS card, and that was just recently for a design team piece which I will show towards the end of the month. Now I did really enjoy making that one and as I also felt I could well do with some more practice, I decided to play in the challenge, so here is my card.

I used a beautiful stamp from La Blanche, stamped it on their special stamping paper in black archival, masked it and then stamped an old Tim Holtz scrip stamp over it
I used an Inkylicious Ink Duster brush to blend some Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs and Bundled Sage lightly over and around it and then coloured the thistle and clock part with Distress Markers. I then blended a little bit of Bundled Sage through some sequin waste to add a bit of texture

A sentiment stamp and Remnant Rub finished it all off.

I had a really hard time just leaving it like that, it somehow looked unfinished, so in the end I mounted it on some green card. (Really, I had too, because I had totally messed up the back ...)
So, now it is really a two layer card, but for me it still is Clean and Simple, so I just hope the ladies will let me off....

Things I have learnt:
1. Clean your craft mat really thoroughly before starting (or in my case probably purchase a new one... :o(  )
2. Mask off the edges of your card, so that you don't mess up when blending ink
3. Use a sentiment with a really clean font (I think my sentiment does not look right with that font)
4. Keep practising to get better.....
5. These cards are loads of fun to do and are quite quick to make!

Well, there you have it, hope you won't think it's too bad and thank you for visiting!
I am adding this to the FSC challenge

Hello Astrid

This is most unusual for you but you have done it beautifully. I love the clean lines to it and the content. It does us good to do things we don't normally do I think. I look forward to seeing you other one later in the month! Have a good day!

I can give you a top tip of mine....cut a piece of copier paper or any other thin type paper to the size of your project and adhere to the back of the card or piece your working on - I use a tape runner that uses a re moveable (non permanent) adhesive. Anyhow....loving your clean and simple card...that stamp really makes the job easy - will have to check it out!

I really don´t think, you even CAN make something that´s too bad. This looks just as gorgeous as all your work always do Astrid. I actually don´t think you ever do anything that looks bad, at least I have never seen it then. And this one look sooo great too and the way you´ve blended the colors together looks just fabulous. Boy if I could make anything look like this, I would be in heaven.

You've built up a lovely collage in the CAS style which I know I find difficult for all the reasons mentioned in your hints and tips!! It is good to step out of the comfort zone now and again but so good to step back in again LOL!!

You've made CAS Astrid-stylee and it looks fabulous, even if you found it a bit of a trial getting there. Thanks for sharing your tips and observations too.

Love the muted collage style Astrid very simplistic but oh so elegant.

With my FSC head on thank you for sharing and joining in with the challenge.

With my own head on it looks so striking but delicate and soft all at the same time.

I absolutely LOVE your card!!! Beautifully done and what is it they say ... "unless you try something you haven't mastered ... you never grow" Seems like you've now mastered CAS perfectly to me!

I think this card is beautiful! Really, you probably can't make something that isn't beautiful :)! But, I know what you mean about CAS. It's not how I work either. But, what a great exercise in keeping things simple, which is a good thing sometimes!

You made me sooooooo smile (BIG) with the 'should buy new mat' isn't it amazing how colour can remain - even after a good clean. Clean and keeping things clean can be quite difficult. I at times use butchers paper (or packing paper) because I just cannot get colour out of my mat - mind you, its probably 15 years old! Your card is beautiful ....

Hi Astrid, A beautiful card and a very striking image, which I agree looks better matted onto the coloured cardstock.
Great top tips, just need to remember to actually put them into practice.
Thanks for sharing with us at FSC

Hi Astrid
Sorry for taking so long to visit.
It might be CAS but it has the mark of Astrid all over it.
Beautiful stamps and I love the soft and dreamy use of colour.

Love the delicate blending of the inks (may have to look in to duster brushes), and I agree with Lynne that, even though it's CAS - and lovely with it - it still feels like you! Glorious stamp too...

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
