The background was created using the tissue paper technique. Laura from Artfully Musing just did a brilliant tutorial on how to do this on her blog. If you don't know it, check it out! For the rest I used the Tim Holtz Bookplate stamp and for the house one of Sam Poole's brilliant Art Houses stamp, stamped and layered several times. The dial embellishment I think is an old Paper Artsy stamp and the word Inspiration came from a 7 Dots Studio Wonderland collection paper. Here is a couple of close ups still
Well, there you have it. It was a nightmare to photograph and it does look a bit better in real life, but I just don't like it. There is something wrong with the colours, - I think I need a new "House of Inspiration" lol.
Anyway, thank you for visiting. Tomorrow I will be showing my second project for Snazzys.

I think it must be just you Astrid as I think it looks just gorgeous. The grungy textured background is fabulous and all the added embellishments are perfect.
Sorry for my lack of comments lately, 24 hours in a day not enough!
Hugs, Fliss xx
Thanks so much for the link for the tissue paper technique...I love the technique and plan to use it on the cover of my next handmade journal. We are our own worst critics as I love your piece!!!
Hello Astrid. I love your piece, its absolutely beautiful and the attention to detail is brilliant. I gave the tissue paper technique a try yesterday and I will definately be using it on a project soon. Enjoy your Day. Hugs Rita xx
I totally hear you when you don't feel the piece you've made.....but it looks ok to me.
I know, what you mean, with not liking something you made, but I truely think, it´s because we´re always our own worst critics, cause this project here looks fabulous to me, and just as it should be Asttrid, so no need to dislike that one. I sure don´t.
lovely colours and contrast here!
Oh mein Gott, das sieht fantastisch aus, liebe Astrid! Ich bin beeindruckt...so cooool!
It looks great, but a bit different for you! I know when something just doesn't sit well ourselves, but it really is a great piece!
Wunderschön, die prächtigen Farben.
Es wirkt alles sehr kostbar.
Eine sehr schöne Arbeit.
Herzlichst Sophie xx
We all have those moments where our creations don't look "just right" to us. From here, though, your creation is really fantastic! Such lively textures - keeps it interesting. Catherine
Astrid...another gorgeous creation! I so love all of the artistic techniques you employ when creating a piece! Love the numbers, colored and then crackled. Your Bookplate background is also just lovely. I also love the house and everythign you've done to embellish it. Really a neat piece! Thanks for sharing your art with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy
Isn't it funny that sometimes you do not like things you created but others think them terrific...I really love this project, but it is different from your usual artwork I have to admit.
I cannot see anything wrong with the colours - they are just not "you" in a special way. But the project IS you. Strange what art sometimes does when it takes over... ;)
It's a really stunning and also mystic piece of art, Astrid! I LOVE it!
Hugs,
Claudia xx
And isn't it always those projects that people seem to like the most :D, I think it's fantastic and I love all the texture and the colours too.
Different colours from your usual Astrid, but I love the whole piece as it is VERY you! Gorgeous piece of art and some great textures and different techniques.
Dear Astrid, you made something totally different from your normally use of colours,- but oh so many wonderful accents, and textures, I love the crackle, and sweet house, -the background..everything is beautiful, and truly an inspiration.
I have made many dolls, that was not totally to my liking, but they are all sold through the years !
Warm hugs from Dorthe
really it is just you. I think it is wonderful, there is a confidence in the use of the image and I love the wrinkled/crinkled background, also loved the colours and darks. keep on keeping on. its great.
Hi Astrid, this s a gorgeos textural piece. Your background with tissue is fantastic and your use of colour is brilliant. Love how you have used Sam Poole's Art Houses. Great piece. Thanks o much for joining in the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge. Tracy x
I think it's a fabulous creation Astrid, love the mix of colours and stamps. We all have pieces we don't resonate so well with, but others do.

Hi Astrid,
I love the colors you chose for the bookplate collage portion. Funny how projects can just veer so far away from what you first imagined. Often I start liking them a few weeks after I make them, and some I just never like. Thank you for the tissue tutorial link. I want to try that!

I love that textured background Astrid and the house stamp by SP is wonderful. Beautiful embellishments added to complete the look.
Good luck

Sometimes the ones we think are not good end up being the one we all love. I happened to love this and the texture is fabulous. I do love the colors and they flow just fine. Alot of work in it and it is so worth showing to us!
Hugs Kelly
We are our own worst critics! But I don't see how you can't like it! It's eclectic, bold, textural, and artsy! I love it! Fab use for the numbers, and love the corner embelliemt at the bottom! We've got your number this week at Simon Says Stamp & Show! Thanks for playing along!
Yes, Astrid, I have made things that I didn't like but they weren't anywhere near as nice as this. The colours are just fine and go beautifully together. I think this is a gorgeous piece. ox Marg
I love this piece, but I know what you are talking about in creating it as well as pictures!
I think maybe it because it is 'different' that you weren't pleased with it. It has real character and boldness. So pleased you decided to show it to us.
Love Chrissie xx
I think it is beautiful, the tissue paper is gorgeous with the texture it adds - must check that tutorial out. I like how you included the brass component below the number, looks so nice.
Wow! This is gorgeous!! Love everything about it!!
This piece is stunning. Love all the layering and how you have put all the elements together. Just perfect!
Hugs,
Gaby
It's beautiful! I know what you mean when there are times we don't love our own stuff, but trust me... this is gorgeous!
I agree with so much of what's been said here... completely get how some pieces just feel right, and others sit a little uncomfortably. The colours are different for you, and maybe that's what's giving you a slight hiccup when you look at it - but I think the textures are amazing, the layering of the book cover and the house works brilliantly, and the whole piece has real energy - so I hope it grows on you!

I love that you have pushed your boundaries and tried something different Astrid, and if you are not happy with it you will have learned for next time. Far better than standing still and learning nothing. I love your creativity here and applaud your willingness to admit your uncomfortable feelings (about to do that myself for the umpteenth time!) Looking forward to seeing how you move forward with this. Huge hugs to a massively inspiring crafter, from Jenny x
Die Herausforderung haben Sie perfekt umgesetzt! Mir gefällt dieses Haus sehr gut.
