The Three Muses "Hats & Crowns & Wings & Things"

The theme at the Three Muses is Hats and Crowns and Wings and Things. Well I think I managed to use all of them. The background was painted with Golden acrylics and tiny scraps of old book pages. The bird and crown I had lying around among my collage scraps, the cage I drew myself, looking at pictures of one of the latest Tim Holtz stamp plates which I really cannot afford to buy...

Stamps are so expensive aren't they! Still, you demonstrate you don't need them, and how much more satisfying to draw by hand anyway :)

Astrid you have done the theme proud, this is so full of wonderful detail and I can see how much work has gone into making it. A true labour of love, and I shall come back for a second look soon.

Your entry this week is stunning, Astrid! The colors are so pretty, and I love that you've constructed this piece from "scraps". However, the BEST part is the cage! Frankly, I like it BETTER than the expensive Tim Holtz stamp!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo

Why buy the stamp when you can draw such a charming bird cage! This is a truly exquisite entry, Astrid. I love the bits of book pages, the subtle colors, and the saucy, sassy crowned bird. It's just simply beautiful!

Astrid, your artwork is exquisite. I love this one - especially your hand-drawn birdcage which I know from experience isn't an easy thing to do. The one thing that stands out to me in all your artwork is the way you build your backgrounds and the scrumptious tinting you do. Fantastic.
(If you want to cheat a little sometimes - and save money - it is very easy to make stamps/brushes in Photoshop or Photoshop elements. They almost look like the real thing!!)

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
