Something very different :o)

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. A special welcome also to my new followers.

Today I am going to show you a different project from my usual style, it's a hand-painted card which I made for my new grand daughter. It will be sent to her with a little present in the next couple of days. It does actually look a lot better in reality than the photo.

More Christmas tags

The kind lady that ordered Christmas cards from me has also ordered 6 tags. She wanted small shipping tags so I had to keep them quite simple. Here they are and I hope she likes them.

The back ground papers and some of the images are from  the Pion Design Waiting for Santa II collection which was their last years Christmas collection.

Tag 2 of the Funky Junky 12 tags of Christmas challenge.

Finally I managed to finish my second tag of the Funky Junky's 12 tags of Christmas challenge. Mine looks absolutely nothing like hers, but I did get inspiration from her in that I used a Father Christmas image (even though hers was stamped, I also used the Tim Holtz on the Edge snow flake die. I made my backgrounds with Chipped Saphire and Frayed Burlap distress inks on a large manila tag. I then stamped a Tim Hotz background stamp with Gesso (not much to see of that anymore). I then cut a fancy label and glued my Santa image. I fastened the snowflakes at the bottom and added clear embossing powder which I bubbled up with my heat-gun. I also added some diamond stickles. Finally I embellished with a die cut poinsettia cut from vellum and a fancy snowflake brat at the top which I aged using alcohol inks.

World Card making Day

Today is world card making day. It was through making cards that my journey into crafting, blogging and this amazing online community started. Til this day I love making cards. In celebration of world card making day, - here is one of my cards to greet fellow card makers all over the world!

I became a granny!

I don't usually post personal stuff on my blog, but today you will just have to indulge me....
I finally became a granny this morning to a lovely little girl called Lucia (not totally sure of the spelling yet:o)

Here she is in her daddy's arms just moments after she was born. I think she looks as if she is still recovering from the experience....

On Wings of Hope tag

First of all, thank you so much to all those kind people who leave such lovely comments here, it makes my day! A warm welcome to all my new followers too!
Today I am showing you a tag.
Once a week the lovely Linda from The Funky Junky is posting a tag challenge which she has named Twelve Tags of Christmas- Funky Junky Style. Obviously there is a connection to Mr TH's 12 tags of Christmas, in that Linda uses a lot of Tim Holtz products, but that's where it ends.
Here are the details of this particular challenge, copied from Linda's blog::

• This is an inspiration challenge. Each week, I will post my tag and you will use it to be inspired to make something. You can enter any sort of craft. It can be a tag, a card, a home decor project, a scrapbook layout - your choice but please make it winter/holiday related. 
• You must take inspiration from something on my tag and tell us in your post what inspired you. You don't have to use my style, my layout, my colors, my theme or anything except be inspired by something on my sample. Your make can be shabby, it can be grungy or it can be clean and simple. I don't mind if you CASE my work, but if you do, please give me credit. 
• We will have 12 weekly challenges beginning today, Monday, September 17th. You can link your project using the linky provided. If you don't have a blog, you can use another hosting site such as SplitCoast Stampers or PhotoBucket, but you must link back to this challenge and tell us what inspired you. 
• To be eligible for the drawing at the end of the 12 weeks, you must: 1) enter all 12 challenges, 2) provide a link back to this challenge and mention that it is sponsored by my store The Funkie Junkie Boutique, with a link to the boutique. 
• All 12 challenges will remain open until December 17th. You can play any challenge up through that date. To be eligible to win, you must have submitted an entry into all 12 of these challenges by midnight Eastern Time December 17th.

Well, there you have it. I was inspired by a number of things from Linda's tag, the colours she used, the heart and wings and the use of stars. In addition I was also inspired by Alison's tag. It was on her blog that I first of all found out about this challenge and decided to play along. I used several of her techniques for creating the background to my tag.

Well, Linda is on challenge 3 already, so I have some catching up to do, but it is great fun and I am going to try to do all 12 challenges!

Friday Freebie Ribbon spools

Not so long ago I purchased a whole collection of colours of crinkled seam binding. And yes, I know it's easy to do dye them oneself and I have indeed done it in the past, but so often it's a question of time right?Anyway, I wanted some pretty ribbon spools to wind the ribbon on, so while I was making them I thought, maybe some others would appreciate them as well. So here goes.

And here you can see some of my ribbons wound onto the spools. I printed them on slightly textured card stock, glued that to thin chipboard (old cereal packet), cut them out and voila.

After completing my mini book I had so many bits of paper left over that I decided to start on Christmas cards. Here is the first one:

I finally managed to complete the vintage mini that I have been working on for ages. So here are the final pages, - beware, photo rich post.....

That's it, all done. It took me a long time to complete. I had great fun making it but now I am looking forward to working on some different projects!
