Use a Quote for A Vintage Journey

Hello all, - it's the first Friday of the month and that means a new challenge at A Vintage Journey. The super talented Jenny from Pushing the Right Buttons is our hostess and she chose "Use a Quote" as her theme.
That's Crafty are our sponsors this month, and each of the DT were given one of their fabulous Crafty MDF surfaces to play with. I chose this shape and decided to go all vintage.
Here is how I went about putting this together:
I covered the surface of the piece in Titan Buff Acrylic paint added a layer of Decoart Crackle paint and then coloured it with the help of Distress Oxide Inks and sprays until I was happy with the result. The crackle was rather subtle, but below you can see that it is actually there...
Next I used a couple of stencils from Paper Artsy to add some texture. First using Ranger Matte Texture paste and when that had dried, colouring it with Walnut Stain Distress Crayon.
Now all I had to do is fit the top part into the handy little stand that was coloured in the same way and adding some embellishments and a quote of course.
The ladies are from Tim Holtz's new Paper Dolls, the quote is from his quote stickers and the flowers I had in my stash.
Below a few close ups still:
The flower cluster adhered with hot glue.
Some background stamping using some Paper Artsy stamps.
The ragged edges were emphasised by taking a Distress Crayon right around it.
And this lovely pair of friends, adding some shadows around them with a Stabilo All pencil in dark blue to bring them out a bit more.

Well that's it for now. Make sure to check out the awesome surfaces my teamies have used and to get all the details of the challenge. All you need to do is click HERE
Hope you'll decide to play along, - after all, who does not like a quote?.......

Have a good weekend everyone and see you next time. Thank you for your visit!
xxxxx

Well, I just LOVE this, Astrid! The colors on the background (and the blossoms) are yummy and subtle crackle is the best crackle, in my humble opinion. Your crackle is just perfect! Love all the details and your quote! And Catherine's quote at the top. Hugs!

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
