Crafty fun

Hello all and I hope you  had a good Easter. I'm on holiday right now as the school where I work has an Easter break, so way more time for crafting, yay!
Today I want to share a fun little craft project that I have been wanting to do for a while. Actually most of my time is spent on brushing up my water colour techniques as I want to start a nature sketchbook/journal, but it was fun to do some craft stuff in between. These are two bookmarks, each with their own little folder, a fun gift for a friend who loves reading. Here is a more detailed look at the first one:
The folder was made from Kraft card, darkened with Vintage photo Distress Ink.
It's slightly wider than twice the bookmark width with an addition 1/2 " score mark on the spine to allow room for embellishments on the bookmark. I then used one of the Tim Holtz mixed media 1 dies to cut an opening and added some die cuts and twine etc to embellish the front.

The second one was kept simpler, I just added some stencilling and then embellished in a similar way.
Below is a closer look at the two book marks:
Here is number one. I used some Inkilicious stamps and one of the Tim Holtz Wildflower diecuts. The bookmark itself was made with the Sue Wilson Striplets Lattice Window die.
The second one was made in a very similar way, using the same dies and stamps and Distress Inks for colouring.

Well that's it from me for today. Hope you are having a good week and thanks for your visit like always!

Das sieht so Klasse aus. Ich bin total begeistert. Ganz liebe Grüße Silvi

What a delightful gift these make Astrid, something different but still displaying your own unique style and attention to detail.

Hope it's OK if I pin these as you have again inspired me and would like to give something similar a go one day.

Stunning bookmarks, and a great way to try out new techniques some times too, as it´s not too big. These are as always just perfect and very very beautiful, and they´ll be the perfect hostess gift for friend, who loves to read or to incourage a kid to read more even. Stunning work as usual Astrid. Have a wonderful extra little vacation still.

Both these bookmarks are so pretty Astrid and will make charming gifts. I particularly like the first one with its lattice pocket, but they are both lovely with the combination of stamped and die cut embellishments. So pleased you are enjoying your school break, I am enjoying it too as we get to see more of your lovely makes. Mo x

Astrid, what a spring delight to see your two bookmark holders with the bookmarks. The yellow/ green tones you used , scream spring to me, and I love it , even I can`t find out using these wonderful colors myself ,lol. The bookmarks with the look of a lovely sunny meadow, are both so beautiful, and love the add of pink flower to the holders. Such a most lovely gift, dear.

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
