Today I would like to show you a journal spread I did, on a topic that's close to my heart.
Here is a link, where you can find out more if you want: Save our bees campaign
Anyway, onto my actual project. I have been having super fun using my gelli plate together with some Decoart Media Acrylic paints. I used mainly Quin. Gold and Cobalt Teal Hue, pulling many prints and playing with various stencils too.
Next came several background layers, deepening the colours with Archival Inks (I found these blend perfectly over the paints), I used Orange Blossom and Forget Me Not by Wendy Vecchi, adding more layers with the help of both stencils and background stamping.
On this side further layers were added with the help of one of the new Paperartsy Halloween stamp sets. The bee is from an Artistic Stamper set, I added more detail to it with pencils.
I tried to create further depth by adding highlights and shadows with the help of a white and a black Stabilo All pencil.
The background on this side was done in the same way, but here I used a variety of background stamps (Carabelle Studios and Indigo Blu).
The focal stamp is a new La Blanche stamp that I fell in love with the moment I saw it.
I stamped her 3 times to add depth to her face and the butterfly, fussy cutting them and layering on top of one another.
A couple of close ups still of the background layers....
Well, that's pretty much it for today. I had not used my Gelli plate for ages, and it was great fun to play with it. Watch out for some more projects using some of my prints in the next few days.....
Thank you for visiting like always and hope you are having a creative week!!

Gorgeous xx I was lucky to have lots of bees visiting the garden this year - more than last year I will be planting more of the flowers that attracted them next summer :)
Wow this is as I said before absolutely amazing. I can't get enough of it. The detail is superb. I think I especially like the stamping and layering of her face. I only wish I could reach out and touch the beautiful textures here! Thank you for sharing your inspiring talent. 😊
Absolutely stunning! Astrid. Your backgrounds are really fabulous with all those layers and lush colour tones . Love the butterfly touch . The fact that your created pages are born from something you feel strongly about serves only to add to their beauty . x
These pages are fantastic, Astrid! Love the coloring in the background as well as the stamping. The butterfly is the perfect touch and really draws the eye in.

Astrid....these art journal pages are just stunning! I so love your colors...but then, I always do. I particularly love your stamped lady image with the butterfly covering part of her face. That just looks so amazing! Everything on that page is mesmerizing. I totally love the background with all of the stenciling and stamping. Just gorgeous.
Wow!! I am drooling here!! Your backgrounds are always brilliant Astrid. I love the rich colour and all the different layers and specially love the butterfly covering part of the ladies face .. awesome!! This is such a worthy cause too. Most people don't understand that, without the bees, this world would be in dire straits. hugs
Dear Astrid, I could look at the spread for hours, and especially , I fell in love in the part with the woman stamp, she looks so fabulous on your fantastic background page, with the beautifully mixed colours, all the stamped beauty, and your colouring of her and the butterfly , so stunning !!
Greetings from Dorthe and see you next week !!
Hugs!

Astrid,
Beautiful journal pages - awesome stamps and such a worthwhile topic.
Love your art journal pages, and I also want to save our bees, so I wish I had thought of this. I just love your gelli plate print background, and I think I need to pull mine out again and give it a go. TFS
this is truely wonderful Astrid - I adore the colours and the inky layers - a fabulous double page spread for a wonderful cause! Fab! Hugs rachel x
So many visual layers to delight my eyes! I love those Paper Artsy Halloween stamps, and how you have layered up your lady on the right page. Beautiful use of color as always...I love your style!
A very worth cause Astrid -- we would be in sad shape without bees. Such a serious subject mixed with some serious images. I am always amazed at what you do to create depth which by the way is fantastic! Wonderful journal spread - I only wish you would do a video showing how you actually did this! Where should I go to learn if not from you!!

Astrid, what a beautiful heartfelt tribute to those much needed bees! We had recently visited Wisconsin and I can tell you there was no shortage of bees there, but in CA not as good! I put out two hummingbird feeders and two to three times a summer we have quite the collection of bees enjoying the sugar water! Your pages are stunning and I love your combination of images to the point! Beautiful!
Fabulous pages Astrid ! Beautiful colours and love the images. Sue C x
Fantastic layers and beautiful colour combination, its a wonderful journal spread and such a worthy cause.

Absolut stunning work here again Astrid, and such wonderful colors you´ve used for it too. You really managed to get soo much depht in it, that it really feels like it´s right here in front of my eyes and not just on the computer.
You just blend colors to achieve "vintage" like no other Astrid. Sooooo sooooo lovely. And what a fabulous topic - you really brought it home. Definitely one to be proud of - needs to be published in a nature magazine! Just wonderful. j.
WOW Astrid I'm totally excited, the pages are awesome designed, I love them both!
Big hugs Anja
These journal spreads support an essential cause and you made it in a deep and perfect colours blend... Fabulous!
Beautiful, Astrid, and a theme close to my heart as well.... love all the details here, and that new stamp is fantastic! Brilliant to layer it like that. xxx Lynn
Fabulous journal pages, love the darker background colours with those wonderful images, especially the bee page.

Amazing depth to these Astrid with stunning stamping effects. They look fantastic. Have you heard of initiatives for setting up rooftop apiaries atop large commercial premises in cities. Some in Dublin are thriving. Nicola x
It's seriously a huge problem. Our world is crazy! LOVE your tribute piece...speaks volumes! GORGEOUS as well! LOVE the color, the layers, the butterfly! Wonderful!
Astrid you always create such fabulous art. This spread is absolutely stunning. I love the depth you created. Lovely image and a very important message you are sharing. So many things we ought to pay more attention to... Inclusive the bees...
Thank you for sharing your lovely art.
Hugs from Monica... Spain
Outstanding Astrid!! A most gorgeous spread and such a noteworthy cause- I feel the same about the bees as you! They seem to be making a comeback here- we can hope!
xoxo
Beautiful - I love the depth and texture of your work, and the subject of bees is very close to my heart.
This has to be one of THE coolest journal pages I have ever seen! Love the grungy look and colour xx
What amazing pages - and with such an important cause at the heart of them. Your layers are as ever wonderful; the Archival over the paint has a beautiful translucence. The woman, half-blind to the problem, is a fantastic image. I can absolutely see why you fell in love with her. Sounds as though you've been having lots of fun with the Gelli plate... I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Alison xx
Beautifully done Astrid! So important to save our lovely bees. I get great enjoyment watching the huge bumble bees at work when we are in Tasmania. Karen.x
The most amazing spread Astrid and you have highlighted the problem in the very best way! The depth you have created with the colours and stamping is fabulous! Chrisx
Simply beautiful pages, Astrid! And what a lovely way to spread the word about saving the bees of the world. We need our bees!! XOXO-Shari
