No More Shopping Sins for Our Creative Corner

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to you all! I hope this will be your most creative year yet and that you are well on track to realize your dreams!

There are some changes a foot over at Our Creative Corner and one of them is that from now on there will be no longer a team A and B but we are all showing our projects at the same time, so here is mine for this month.
The wonderful Claudia has chosen the theme this month which is "No More Shopping Sins, she wants us to use a long hoarded and never before used item from our stash. You can get all the details here
I used not one, but three hoarded items from my stash and combined them into a little wall calendar.
The first was the little shaped board I used for the background, the next was the Weathered Clock die by Tim Holtz, purchased last year on a whim, and never yet used, and the last one was the beautiful rose stamp (from Stampin back in the Netherlands), which has sat around un-inked for months and months.

So this is how I went about creating my piece:
I started by adding some texture through a couple of Crafters Workshop stencils and also added some bits of book paper. When dry I then covered it all with Gesso.
Here you can see the texture a bit better
I cut the clock from an old cereal packet, covered it with Picket Fence crackle paint and when it had done it's crackle magic added some Walnut Stain Distress Stain to seep into the cracks. I stamped the rose in Potting Soil Archival on Ranger watercolour paper and then coloured with Distress Markers and a water brush. Once I was happy with it I glued it behind the aperture in the clock.
The clock hands were done with French Roast Fresco paint.and fastened to the rose panel with a little brad.
Next I painted the background with a mix of Nougat, Stone and Taupe Fresco paints and added some colour to the raised bits with Gelatos and also some Treasure Gold in Pewter. I forgot to take a picture before I adhered the clock, but here you can see a few close up pictures of what it looks like.

Here you can see the whole panel after I also added some shadows with a Faber Castell Big Brush pen.
The sentiment is a Tim Holtz stamp, from the Way with Words set stamped and embossed with white embossing powder onto a dark brown scrap of DP.
Another close up of the clock with the shadow done with the brush pen. These blend perfectly when still wet but then are totally permanent.

The little calender came with the back panel which I got at a craft show for the grand amount of £1:00

I had a terrible job trying to photograph this as we have had so many really dark days, but I hope you at least got a bit of an idea.
Do go over to the Our Creative Corner blog, to see what my talented teamies have created and I very much hope you will play along with our challenge by going through your own stash to find some long forgotten items and give them a new leash of life.

Happy New Year everyone and thank you for visiting!!

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
