Gothic Arches "Stars"

The theme at Gothic Arches is stars this week. The faux metal look on the the frame of my arch was created using a technique described in the December issue of the UK publication "Craft Stamper". It is metallic card, embossed with the help of a cuttlebug folder and then painted with a dark colour of acrylic paint which is rubbed into the relief created in the embossing process. Before drying most of it is then rubbed off to create the look of old metal.

It's wonderful. I too had a go at that technique after seeing it in Craft Stamper - isn't it realistic, I love it.

Astrid, for some annoying reason, I am unable to comment on your blog from home so I'm being bad and doing so on a break at work because I really wanted to tell you that I think this piece is stunning. It has the look of an old cathedral and with it a sense of reverence. Beautiful!

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
