Art Creations Friday

Art Creations Friday supplied a lovely image today. I decided to make an ATC with it. It was great for once to have the time to take part as this is one of my favourite challenge blogs.

Gothic Arches "Vernal Equinox"

Well, it was the spring equinox a couple of days ago, that's in the Northern Hemisphere at least. I am always very aware of my dear friends "down under" where now it is getting autumn.
Anyways, my spring arch is a mixture of collage and stamping like usual. The little bird is hand drawn over a stamp.

Blog Candy

Jean over at Bluebirds living in the meadow is giving away amazing blogcandy to celebrate her blogaversary. Well worth having a look! http://bluebirdslivinginthemeadow.blogspot.com/

Saturday's workout "Sew an ATC"

The theme at SaWo is to sew an ATC. As I don't have a sewing machine I had to do it by hand. I really enjoyed it and made two while I was at it. The background is silk fabric. I stitched around it in metal thread, painted it with mostly Lumiere paints, then collaged and embellished with bit of lace, metal, beads, fabric flowers and various other bits and pieces.

Mixed Media Monday "Spring Colours"

I decided to make a bookmark for this challenge. It's not easy to get into the mood of Spring in cold wet rainy Scotland. And hey, I wonder what it must be like for people in the Southern hemisphere, where it is turning autumn now. Anyway, I collaged a piece of mountboard, over painted with acrylics, then added final imge. No stamping at all this time.

Saturday's workout "Molding or structure paste"

The technique challenge at SaWo is to use structure or molding paste. In the past I have quite often used the stuff to create some texture in backgrounds. This time I really wanted to try something else and used the paste a bit like embossing paste, namely through a stencil. That way you get a kind of embossed effect. I turned it all into a farewell card for a friend who is leaving.

The leave embellishments were punched out of previously embossed (with cuttlebug) strips of card which I then coloured with glimmermists. You can't see them very well on the scan.

Make a Wish is the theme at TGIF. Have not played for a while, but just managed to fit a quick 4 x 4 in. So relaxing to do a bit of crafting again

Off to the States

Have to go off to the United States for work until March 3, no time for art work during that time sadly.
I need a career guide to help me get the education needed for an art degree so that I can do art all the time! But for now, maybe I will get some shopping done. For us Europeans Michaels can be quite a treat...:o)

TGIF "Hands"

The theme at TGIF is hands. I love that theme, aren't our hands what makes us truly human? There are so many things that we can do with our hands, give and receive, create bless and pray. Through our hands we make visible he sentiments and gifts of our hearts.... Ah well, here is my modest contribution to the theme.

Tilda Card

In the last few days I have felt really inspired by the work of some of the brilliant Scandinavian cardmakers and scrapbookers. They work in a very different style from my usual one, but for once I just had to try making a card in that sort of style. I actually really liked the process and may well do it again. Maybe that way I finally will get some use out of the "cute" stamps that I have collected over the years

Saturday's workout "Shrink Plastic"

Finally got time to participate in some of the challenges again because it is half term!
Shrink Foil or plastic is the theme at SaWo. I made an ATC, - the background is collaged then overpainted with acrylics. The tag is embossed metal with an image from Paper Whimsey and finally the letters are stamped onto shrinkplastic, cut out and then shrunk with a heat gun. A little trick I learned was to do the shrinking inside a little box, that way the plastic cannot fly all over the place.

Birthday Card
Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
