2013 Calendar pages (freebies tomorrow!)

Hello everyone and happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it!!
I have so many things to be thankful for, too many to list them all, but my many online friends and blog followers certainly feature high on the list!! Please know that you are all so much appreciated!!
Today I am showing you the first few pages of a little desk top calendar I am making for someone. I am not using my own designs (they will keep coming in the next few weeks) but the wonderful new papers from Graphic 45 Place in Time Collection. Here are a few samples:

Delightful Die D-lites

12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style tag 8 & 9

Finally managed to do my next two tags for the 12 tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Style. I was running two tags behind and I know that today Linda, also known as the Funkie Junkie, will be posting number 10.

Well, now for my tags, here is no 8

Of course like usual mine is totally different, but there are a few similarities that I used as inspiration from Linda's tag: A Santa stamp on the right (mine is a Crafty Secrets stamp), the Season's Greetings sentiment on the left, a strip of hessian/burlap at the bottom and a big flower, plus some background stamping. You can see Linda's original tag here:

I made my flower using a Rose Creations die from Spellbinders

My Santa image was coloured with a mix of Distress Inks and Inktense pencils and cut with another Spellbinders die

And now for tag #9

Again, mine is very different but I stuck with the star and button theme and also added a gingham ribbon, with a ticket stuck behind. You can see the original here
I had great fun creating the background with a mix of acrylic paints, crackle medium, embossing powders, Distress Stickles and my heat-gun. The stars are grunge board which I treated in a similar way to make them look old and rusty. The ticket is a Tim Holtz stamp and the buttons I have had in my stash since forever and I was so pleased to finally use them.

Christmas Recipe Book guest designing for Calico Crafts

I feel honoured to have been invited again to be a guest designer for Calico Crafts this month. I was asked to use some of their beautiful papers. Now I like making my own backgrounds but I adore using gorgeous papers, so this was right up my street!

 Christmas  is a big affair in our house and with a large extended family, Christmas dinner is a big occasion with up to 20 people every year.The moment I saw the beautiful Kaisercraft Turtle Dove Collection I knew I wanted to use them for a book to keep all my Christmas recipes in, handy to have them all together and also making a lovely keepsake to pass on to my daughter when it becomes her turn to host this annual affair….. (I wish......)

Friday Freebie Calendar pages

Hello everyone and again a very warm welcome to all my new followers!
This week and for the next 5 weeks to follow, I am going to do something slightly different:
Each week I will post two new 6 x 4 pages that can be the foundation for a home made calendar, so for the next few weeks, expect two new months each time. I am providing the backgrounds for you that you can embellish to your hearts content. Here are January and February (and I apologize to my Southern Hemisphere visitors, as they are very wintry....)

This one can be printed as is, the two same images below can be re-sized in a photo editing programme.

Friday Freebie Little Christmas add ons

Hello everyone
This week I have been rather busy with not much time for blogging and creating but I did not want to leave you without your Friday Freebie, so here is just a little offering.
I also want to say thank you to all those of you who email me and tell me you have used my freebies for your projects. I always LOVE to see what you create with them, you guys are soooo creative!!

Like usual there is one collage sheet and individual images for those of you who like to resize or play around digitally. Like always, many thanks to the Graphics Fairy, Bumble Button, Lilac and Lavender and all the other generous people that freely share their treasures on the internet. I could not do this without your generosity!

More journaling fun

It's great to finally get back into some journaling again. Here is the back of my last page. No pockets for actual writing this time, just an affirmation, - who doesn't need reminding to just believe....

Journal playtime

Hello everyone, and welcome once again to all my new followers.

It's been rather quiet around here, mainly due to the fact that I have been snowed under with various design team projects. But today I decided I needed some art me time and played in my latest journal.

The background was created using various acrylic paints and loads of Gesso, stencils and various background stamps. The main vocal stamps  are mostly Tim Holtz and were stamped on to tissue paper and then adhered with gel medium over the background. I also used element of the Prima Romance Novel collection. Love that collection (I have the 6 x 6 pad). I like most Prima collections, but this one must be one of my all time favourites. The bit on the right is a pocket I created with a little envelope inside to hold little journal-ling notes. I feel more comfortable with that than journal-ling all over my page.

Friday Freebie more Christmas stuff

Before anything else I want to say to all of my American friends that I hope and pray that you are safe and warm. I know that many of us in other parts of the world have been thinking of all those of you who were hit by the storm and are sending prayers!

For those of you who love creating  romantic, vintage style Christmas projects, here are three more designs. They are 3 by 5 inches and can either be used as tags or you could also incorporate them in a card.. 

12 Tags of Christmas Funky Junky Style # 7

Well another week has passed and we are now at tag number 7 of the 12 Tags of Christmas Funky Junky style. Even though I was definitely inspired by the example which you can see here, mine is absolutely nothing like the original...

The main reason for that is that I simply don't own any of the products used by Linda, I could not even do the background in the same way as I don't have the ink refresher that she used to create Tim's Faux Suede effect. Nothing like being inventive however, so I just created a back ground with a similar effect, using Kraft Glasine paper. I used some of Linda's elements like the corrugated card, a deer and a Christmas cottage, but I had to make them in a different way. Her deer is a die, mine is a stamp which I cut out. I did not have a cottage stamp so I used one of Tim's seasonal Kraft resist images and hand drew over it to make the cottage become clearer. I don't have the snow flake die either, so I stamped my snowflakes with the freebie that came with this months Craft Stamper Magazine and cut that out. I put my ribbon in a similar place also, - so those were all my inspiration points.
