Art Creations Friday supplied a lovely image today. I decided to make an ATC with it. It was great for once to have the time to take part as this is one of my favourite challenge blogs.
Well, it was the spring equinox a couple of days ago, that's in the Northern Hemisphere at least. I am always very aware of my dear friends "down under" where now it is getting autumn. Anyways, my spring arch is a mixture of collage and stamping like usual. The little bird is hand drawn over a stamp.
The theme at SaWo is to sew an ATC. As I don't have a sewing machine I had to do it by hand. I really enjoyed it and made two while I was at it. The background is silk fabric. I stitched around it in metal thread, painted it with mostly Lumiere paints, then collaged and embellished with bit of lace, metal, beads, fabric flowers and various other bits and pieces.
I decided to make a bookmark for this challenge. It's not easy to get into the mood of Spring in cold wet rainy Scotland. And hey, I wonder what it must be like for people in the Southern hemisphere, where it is turning autumn now. Anyway, I collaged a piece of mountboard, over painted with acrylics, then added final imge. No stamping at all this time.
The technique challenge at SaWo is to use structure or molding paste. In the past I have quite often used the stuff to create some texture in backgrounds. This time I really wanted to try something else and used the paste a bit like embossing paste, namely through a stencil. That way you get a kind of embossed effect. I turned it all into a farewell card for a friend who is leaving.
The leave embellishments were punched out of previously embossed (with cuttlebug) strips of card which I then coloured with glimmermists. You can't see them very well on the scan.
Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
