Symbolic self portrait
This is the second page I have done in my special journal for Pam Carriker's Journalling 365 workshop. The symbolic self portrait was done in conte creayon, you create the highlights with a kneadable eraser. I have never used a conte crayon before in my life and it is quite different from any other medium I have worked with before. The whole process took me well out of my comfort zone but is well worth exploring further. Pam is a brilliant teacher!

This piece is remarkable, Astrid! I'm off to learn more about the technique now!
Astrid this is really stunning - I must have missed it when I did my usual 'rounds' at the beginning of the week. A well deserved winner of the Art of the Week title, congratulations! You should keep going out of your comfort zone if this is what you produce!
