When a tag is not just a tag

Hello friends, - it's the 5th Friday of the month and that means that we are doing a "tag Friday" at  A Vintage Journey, the creative team share their tags just for the fun of it, and you are invited to share your tags too.

So above, a tag, but this is not just a tag, it's part of a tag folder/giftcard holder, made from two double sided tags,as you will see below.
Here first of all is the outside:

As you can see, the two tags are simply attached with one of Tim Holtz's design tapes. What you see here is the front and back tags.

 Here is the inside, with the tag on the left having a pocket, (made with a Tim die), that holds the gift card. Both tags were embossed with one of Tim's 3D folders, the one on the left was decorated with some leaves from a fee stampset that came with a magazine.

Here a little detail of how I decorated the pocket with some of the Funky Florals. The pocket was made from a piece of design paper that I then shabbied up with some texture paste and a stencil. The flowers and leaves were all cut from the same paper (Papermania Madame Perraud, sadly no longer available

The front cover is a double layer, the bottom tag  was cut with the largest of the Sizzix Tags and Labels die, coloured with Doxides. The top was cut with the same tag die and then with one of the Mixed Media dies, to make the bottom one show though. I then decorated the Sizzlets Floral jar stamps and dies, plus a bit of "Dresden Trim" also cut with one of Tim's 3D dies/folders

The back cover was just very simply decorated with some inking and background stamping over another piece of design paper.

And here finally the little giftcard/tag that fits inside the pocket.

Well, that's pretty much it, a little bit more than just a tag, but I needed a little gift item like this, so this seemed like a good opportunity to make one.

Inspired by the Autumn Season

Hello friends, welcome. Today I have a card to share which I made just for fun and also to play in a couple of challenges.

A few days ago I spent some time creating some flowers and also some leaves. I used Tim Holtz's Funky Florals dies, his Foliage dies and also some leaf stamps that came as freebies with a magazine.

Recently I was very much inspired by a project from the wonderful Jenny Marples, you can see it here . She made it as her DT piece for the Frilly and Funkie challenge which is Back to Nature, and as I wanted to play in the challenge I let myself have a play, like I said taking my inspiration from her, as well as from nature itself.

I started by creating a background panel, using some design paper (Blue Fern Studios), added some colour with Distress Paints and Gesso, some texture using Grunge Paste from Paper Artsy and a bit of Distress ink and a bit of background stamping..I also did some messy stitching as you can see.

Next I added some strips of card, coloured with Oxide Inks and embossed with Tim's 3D wood grain folder.

I then gathered some embellishments, - some of the flowers and leaves I had made plus some little pinecones and a metal embellishment.

For the leaves I made an alcohol ink background, used the leaves stamps and alcohol lift ink and then stamped those stamps on some card. I then added more alcohol inks and when the panel had dried, die cut the leaves.

The Funkie Florals flowers and branches were cut from white card,, inked a bit and then I added some Distress glitter and a little Diamond Stickles.

Now all I had to do was put it all together using some white glue and a hot glue gun. A Tim word band finished it all off.

I adhered the panel to a Kraft Card card blank and that was pretty much it.

Long Time No See

Hello friends, - I called this post "long time no see", and it has been a long time indeed, - nearly a month.... There are a number of reasons for this, - being away from home, having lost my mojo and finally my photo editing programme having been broken, but that is now fixed (long story), - so really there is no longer an excuse (apart from that mojo is still away on a break), but hey ho, I have been there before, - so here goes:

It's a journal spread in my handmade water colour journal, (more details about that HERE, if you are interested). I used watercolour, Distress products, - crayons, Doxides and inks an also washi tapes, an Alcohol Lift Ink embellishment, some stamping and a Paper Doll received in a mail art swap on Instagram from the the wonderful Rox (Red Dirt Crafter).
The sentiments are stamped using some of Lynne's Affirmations from That's Crafty.

Below some more details:

This beetle was stamped using the print after using Tim Holtz's Alcohol Lift ink. I had planned to use the actual lifted image, but the background was too dark, so I will keep that for an other occasion.
