The lovely and talented Anne is our hostess of our challenge this month, and I tell you this was a real challenge for me in more ways than one. I don't have many Halloween (or indeed Spooky) things in my stash, and so I went with the few things I still had from previous years and put this little spooky (I hope) scene together. 3D projects (unlike Anne) are also not really my thing, but here goes:
I started with a large cube from Calico Craft Parts, gave it a coat of black gesso, then a coat of Decoart Weathered Wood Crackle Glaze and finally a coat of Decoart Chalky Finish paint in Whisper.
Next colour was added with the help of Decoart Quin. Gold, Burnt Amber, some Golden Glazing Medium and finally some Stampendous embossing powders in Ancient Bronze and Green. The edges were darkened with Coffee Gelato.
Here you can hopefully see the effect a bit better.
Next I gathered some of my Halloween/Autumnal bits and pieces.
Mostly Calico Craft Parts again as well as some die cut leaves and berries. As you will see from the finished project, some other bits were added along the way. Then all I needed to do was put it all together...I covered a piece of mount board with black gesso and added some mosses, adhered with my glue gun. The fence was made using chipboard pieces I have had in my stash like forever.
The spider's web is a CCP, I added the little cross on the spider in the center with a gold Sharpy.
The witch, another CCP was given a coat of white paint and then coloured mostly with Faber Castell big brush pens. I love how these are water soluble at first and then become permanent.
The finishing touch was obviously the little night light, the outside of that was also coloured with a big brush pen.
Well, that's it. The little ghost peeping around the corner in this photo was just a little fun addition I created in Photoshop Elements. Don't forget to head over to the A Vintage Journey Blog, to see all the incredible projects my teamies have created and to get the full details of the challenge. And of course we hope you will play along with us this month, - we can't wait to see what you will make!
Thanks for dropping my here today and have a great creative month!!

WOUW you´ve done an awesome job Astrid, and with this little to do with, you´ve really made a masterpiece. I´m with you on the HAlloween stuff too and not too keen on it, but this is not that creepy, but more cute spooky and fun and I actually love this and you get a 10 from me for your idea and ability to get this out of such small amount of stuff. You are a talented lady, that´s for sure.
Oh yes your 3D scene is definitely creepy and beautifully designed and put together, I think you have a little bit of Macbeth witchery going on there, it's brilliant xxx
A fabulous creation and take on the theme Astrid, so much detail and the tin really does looks like an old rusted tin, wonderful.

This is amazing. When I saw it on the Vintage Journey blog I thought it really was an old tin. So clever to be able to turn a cube into something that looks so real. The addition of candle light makes it even more stunning
Love Chrissie xx

This is absolutely amazing - I love it. Considering you don't have much Halloween stash you've done brilliantly with all the little touches, the pumpkins, the cobweb, the little pile of windfalls - all are just perfect.
Brilliant spooky scene! So clever to use the ATB as an spooky dwelling and the patina is fabulous. Your witch and fire are so cool!

Only truly talented artists can go outside their comfort zone and still produce a fabulous creation and you have well and truly done just that Astrid. I LOVE your fabulous spooky project! Such a creative use of the calico cube and all those spooky theme related ccp'ss , paints and techniques . Love the effect of the EP on the cube and the addition of the tea light ( and spooky ghost) just sets the scene perfectly . Love it all so much .

So sorry for not stopping by of late. Things haven't been too good here but I am now off to catch up on as much as I can and I know I am in for a real treat . Hoping things will settle soon and I will be able to get back on track .

A fabulous project, maybe out of your comfort zone, but it looks awesome. The scene you created looks great with the witch and all the added details. It will look good in the window on Halloween night.

Now you can say 3D projects are your thing! Fabulous, especially with the little light.
Well, Astrid, as a lover of most things Halloween (sorry, I don't like zombies!), I give you highest marks for the creepiest witch-y creation I think I've ever seen! And it is clearly the way you've crusted up that cube that takes my breath away and then, BAM! It lights up, which just is the icing on the cake! Well done, you, for putting this together without having all the latest Halloween crafty items! This is a shining example of your amazing creativity! My hat's off to you! Hugs!
PS your crackle is amazing! I use those products to get crackle and get nothing near as brilliant! What's your secret???
