Happiness

Hello everyone, welcome and an especially warm welcome to my new followers.
I have called this post happiness because that is what I feel when I think of my new grand daughter and when I have the time to play in my journal. This page includes one of the more recent photos of her and she certainly is one happy little girl, and yes, she is a girl even though there is a lot of blue in this page.

As no doubt you can see, this page is heavily influenced by the work of Anna Dabrowska (Finnabair) again. I love the way she incorporates photos into her work.

I started by covering my page with old book paper, then added numerous strips of other papers, tape, burlap ribbon, lace, metal bits and flowers and finally my photo. The next step was to cover everything with a thick layer of Gesso. I then coloured it all with various ink sprays (Dylusions, Cosmic Shimmer and Tattered Angels) I protected my photo with a baby wipe while doing this, a trick I learnt from Anna. I also added some stamping with various background stamps. The final bit was to add the sentiment which was computer generated.

Here you can see some of the detail still.

Oh Astrid, this is stunning. Such a beautiful photo of your gorgeous granddaughter. No wonder she makes you feel happy! It's impossible not to smile when looking at her photo.
As for the blue, it's my eldest (5 yrs) granddaughter, Izzy's favourite colour ........ she's never been a pink girl, lol!
Thanks for the tips. I'm intrigued by how to use the babywipe to protect the photo as I had been wondering how you did that and yet the photo still looks 'part of' the page rather than an add-on. A piece of work to be proud of my friend.

Hugs

A glorious page, Astrid - the textures and patinas are wonderful, and I thoroughly applaud blue for a girl... it's my favourite colour and it's also relatively recently (the Victorians I believe) who decided girls were pink and boys blue... until then, girls were associated with blue as a soft, delicate colour, and boys with martial pinks and reds!!
What a wonderful smile she's got too...

This is gorgeous, Astrid! I love to include photos in my work as well, but I don't do it too often for some weird reason.

I've recently discovered Finnabar's work too and am obsessed! It's so intricate and soft at the same time. Your page is beautiful, what a sweet grandchild! Thanks for sharing your work, I'm a relatively new subscriber and always get inspired when I visit here.

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
