Gothic Arches "Gypsies"

The theme at GA is "Gypsies". I think we actually should call them Romanies as the word Gypsies is not truly politically correct.... Anyway, I experimented with my background paper, first I used an altered background from Shabby Cottage Studio, I added colour with various inks, overstamped and added the image, I then scanned that, opened it in photoshop and added some digital stamps/brushes (something I just learned in Gail's workshop). I then printed the image, added more colour and "real" stamping and some embellishments and finally mounted it on a piece of card which was embossed with the cuttlebug script folder.

Your tantalizing description of your technique enticed me to open up your enlargement. Wow, what a lot of detail work. This is so beautiful. The script cuttlebug background folder was a new one to me. Love you piece. And yes, I wondered about the term gypsies, too, but that is a word, like many now unPC, that I grew up with.

Astrid, I have just been blown away by your beautiful turquoise postcard and now I am looking at your arch which is just perfect. Everything about it.
I agree with you regarding the word "gypsy" as opposed to "Romany". Gypsy has become a derogatory term to mean anyone who doesn't fit into normal society and, as we know, the Romanies have a long history and a culture which is rich and productive.

This is beautiful! I am reading "Witch of Portabello" just now by Paulo Coelho at the moment and this looks just like how I imagine Athena's mother to look :)

Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
