Here first of all are two warm up excercises, the first one followed her instructions pretty much exactly.
I just did it in my own chosen colours and elements. Adding the water droplets was an idea from Shirley Deatcher from Papercreations by Shirley, who is also doing the Lifebook classes. I think many of you will know her, if not check her out, she is an amazing artist!
With this next one something went wrong and it became a complete wet mess, so I put some clingfilm all over the wet painting and let it dry. This then gave me the background to add the other elements.
Finally, the main project of this class, a watercolour portrait with an inspirational quote. Andrea's portrait style is very different from mine. At first I tried to follow her style (more cute), but I absolutely could not do it and failed miserably, so in the end I gave up and did my own style of portrait... There apparently is something deep inside me that really resist "cute" lol.....
Anyway, that's it for today. Hope you are not getting too bored with all my portraits, I am trying to keep these posts short as I know how busy we all are, - but in any case, thanks for your visit, and happy creating!

So many wonderful pieces from your Lifebook class. You certainly have a talent for watercolor. Each one is so beautiful!

Your artwork looks beautiful. Water droplets in middle was a different idea...
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic Astrid! Your backgrounds are just brilliant. So many different design elements and patterns, and I love the randomness yet perfectly placed appearance of the pages. Seems you are really enjoying your classes. hugs :)
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful Astrid! So beautiful your watercoloring art as well!
ReplyDeleteYour art is beautiful in its own right, Astrid, but Andrea's is as well and I'd call her style whimsical. Having said that, let me just stand up for cute. It's as legitimate as any other style and has the sad fortune to be the stepchild of art. Everybody love to diss cute. SMH. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Astrid, I've been away so behind :) I love your art from week 2, they are both gorgeous. I appreciate your mention of my name, thank you :) Of course you have to be true to yourself and create art in your style which is definately not 'cute'. Andrea's drawings and art leans to 'cute' but I love her lessons and techniques and she seems like such a sweet lady. I see your art as elegant/vintage mixed media. I tend to gravitate to whimsical with vibrant colours with either watercolour or inks and/or mixed media with lots of layers and texture, but I also love elegant using flowers! Too many things to try ! Its fun to see your interpretation of the LB2018 lessons :) take good care, Shirleyxx ps.. hope I haven't rambled too much :)
ReplyDeleteSorry all three are gorgeous, I said 'both' in my comment :) I really do love them all :) xx
ReplyDeleteLove those watercolour pages... I was working with watercolour splodges in November and had a lovely time. The Peace page really appeals to me - composition, colours, textures - all adding up perfectly. And the Star woman is wonderful too.
