The background was created first, using a mix of collage, acrylic and watercolour paints. I then added the girl with the help of water soluable crayons, Tombow markers and Prisma colour pencils, plus some Stabilo all pencil and marker pen to add more detail.
The face turned out quite patchy, because of having done the background first. I also really need to get some flesh coloured acrylic paint.....
I added a hand lettered quote that I found on Pinterest I think. I love the thought behind it, trying to paint portraits certainly make you look more closely at faces, and the human face, particularly the eyes, always fill me with wonder.
Here is a close-up of the background. After having completed the face I added some stamping and stencilling.
A little tiara on her hair and a scrap of a paper napkin, finished it all off.
Well that's it for today. I will probably be back with a few more Lifebook creations in a few days time.
I will add this piece to the lovely ladies at AJJ again

I replied to your question and yes I mainly keep the end digital pages in a file on my computer.
She turned out so beautiful . Serene and calm and the quote is great - what a fab spread Astrid! You also got a beautiful heardress- I always struggle with the hair in my portraits. Ready mixed acrylic fleshtones come handy for sure - I buy mine at the Euro Shop for just 1 € a tube and they do a very good job - make it darker with a hint of raw umber or even lighter with a bit of white. I am much too lazy to mix my own fleshtones I have to admit. I always use too much acriylc paint when it comes to mixing my own colours. Thank you very much for joining us again at Art Journal Journey - you really mad me happy - what a pleasure to have you with us
ReplyDeleteWishing a nice weekend to you!
