Here is number 4 of the 6 skinnies I am making for a halloween swap. The background was created using deli paper which I was sent by the lovely Marilyn Rock. You can watch a video on how to do these kind of backgrounds here
If there is anyone who knows where you can get this kind of paper in the uk, please let me know, I love the stuff! I am also putting this in for the 3 Muses' challenge where Bev has chosen the theme "Numbers" this week.
Awesome, Astrid! Yes, deli paper is quite addictive! Your entry is PERFECT for The Three Muses challenge this week! Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh wow this is perfect. Wonderful play with this technique. Unbelievable design. Love them Astrid.
ReplyDeleteAnother great skinny!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic skinny...wish I was in the swap and had a chance to get one of yours!! Dynamite! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteThis set is fantastic, so much detail to look at.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if deli paper is the same as what we call "butcher's paper". This is a very soft white paper that can be shaped around whatever it is wrapping. My daughters buy it in very large bundles for their small children to paint and draw on. It is also popular in kindergartens and pre-schools.
ReplyDeleteAstrid, your artpiece for this week's numbers theme at the Muses is absolutely scrumptious. I love the creative design and those superbly rich, earthy tones. Fantastic.
I agree this is totally fabulous as is all your work. Annette x
ReplyDeleteFantastic Astrid.
ReplyDeleteLiebe Grüße

Astrid, your skinnies are beautiful little works of art. I love the colours, and the composition, and in this particular one I'm loving the Raven who looks as though he is up to some mischief! Kudos my friend.
ReplyDeletefirst: your halloween skinnies are fantastic!! great turn-out of this deli-paper technique!!
ReplyDeletei also hate it when it comes to things which i can´t get here (in germany). but i think i found quite a good substitute for this (may be it is actually the same, i have no comparison...). it is named "sandwich paper" (we also call it "butterbread" paper). it is really cheap and comes in packages of 100 (about din-a-4 size) sheets in the department of the stores where the ziplock /freezing bags are. wish you luck finding!!
Oh wat een schitterende skinny Astrid!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am such a fan of your work, Astrid. This is rich in color and texture, and, as always, beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful skinny- what wonderful vintage imagery blended so perfectly!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous skinny, Astrid. I also love the other three! This is gorgeous work.

ReplyDeleteHi Astrid,
ReplyDeleteI didn't know what you meant by deli paper until I watched the video, now I will have to see if I can get it too. I think it is called butchers paper also, and you can buy big rolls of it here.
Love this skinny with that wonderful background, and the triangles with my favorite witch :)
fantastic skinny Astrid!!
ReplyDeleteAstrid,i used for this backgrounds the kind of fatfree paper you pack sandwiches in, i think it,s pretty much the same as the delipaper.
ReplyDeleteLove Marilyns work too and watched the tutorial she made too!
I love the beautiful depth and glow you've created in these halloween skinnies, Astrid. I can only seem to do outtakes from 'Saw' LOL. good luck with your search for deli paper. I assume it's not the same as greaseproof paper?
ReplyDeleteAstrid, the skinnies you´re sharing are so beautifully and uniquely. It's always a pleasure to visit your wonderful blog my friend!
