Visiting crafty friends and some bottle fun

Hello lovely visitors. Today I am sharing some things related to a crafty visit I did on Monday with two of my lovely crafty friends, Rita  and Annie.
I had great fun wrapping them each some little crafty gifts:
Inside each was a little pair of fancy antique look scrissors, a bookmark like the ones I have shown in a previous post, and some other little bits and pieces (forgot to photograph). I love doing these collage type wrappings, they are so much fun.
This is Rita's, with a little tag attached:
And here is Annie's
and her little tag
When we three visit together, we always do some crafting too of course. This time we played around with Powertex, something that was totally new to me. Annie did a course some years ago and had a big box of all the stuff you need. We each altered a bottle. This is messy stuff, so we did it outside. Here is a photo of Rita, just showing brilliantly all the messy fun we had.

and here you can see the first stage of my very messy bottle

They took a long time to dry, so I had to do the finishing touches at home, which I did with the help of some mica powders and gesso, so below some photos of what the bottle looks like now:
The texture was created with the help of some of the bits and pieces in Annie's magical box, all dipped in the Powertex stuff, which adheres to the bottle, covered with masking tape first.

Here you can see the other side of the bottle, old t-shirting, netting and Rita and Annie used thick string too.
At home I decided to finish my bottle off by adhering one of Tim Holtz's metal butterflies, with hot glue.

Well, that was my crafty adventure this week. I learnt quite a bit about Powertex, and if I ever did it again would go about it in quite a different way, - live and learn as they say. Thank you so much Annie for hosting us, I think we all had a super day!!
Now off to enjoy some much needed sunshine....
Thanks for your visit like always,
xxxxx

  8. That all looks like such fun Astrid and crafting in the garden as well in some lovely sunshine. And such kind gifts which on their own would be lovely but the added thought and time that went into the packing makes them very special.

  10. What glorious little packages - I'm not sure I could bear to open such a beautifully collaged piece of gift-wrapping! Lucky Rita and Annie. And how much fun to explore Powertex together. I've been curious for ages, but have been waiting until I had more space to play (or a workshop to go on). I love your textural sculpted bottle - looks like lots of messy fun, and all the better with friends to get messy with!
