First up my planner
I used the same techniques I usually use for this journal, Gesso over Dyan Reaveley's original artwork, then some acrylic paints and finally background stamping, stamped ephemera and washi tapes.
Here's a close up of my right side page.
The focal image this week is of course one of Tim Holtz's paper dolls. This boy looks to me as if he is ready to get on with things, - just what I need to do in the coming week...
Stamped ticket and hand written sentiment, trying my hand at some medeaval script
The other part of the same ticket (both from the Tim Holtz Ticket Booth stamp set), and a ruler piece cut from an old Tim paper
I though I would also share one more page from my daily junk journal.
I decided to add a pocket and some stamped journaling cards. I did a tutorial a while back on how to make these pockets, you can find it here
And here a closer look at the other side
For this page I decided to leave lots of blank space for journaling and writing practice.
Well, that's it for this week, I will be back next Friday with a project for A Vintage Journey, see you then and have a great week!

More wonderful pages my friend, beautifully layered and great you’re trying out different lettering styles. Have a fabulous weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteWonderful, vintage journal pages, I especially love the one with the pocket. I sewed a pile of paper and cloth pockets some months ago, and lost them - they recently turned up when I cleared my table. Thanks for the reminder to use them! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteTHanks you for another feast of inspiration Astrid, I always appreciate taking in what you have to offer.

Your journals looks fantastic Astrid. I love how you folded down the corner in the junk journal to make a little pocket and your medieval calligraphy looks super. It gives it a very personalized touch for sure. I've been admiring your little vintage hand to help hold pages down. That's smart and it's quite pretty too. It fits right in with your journal style. :) Have a great weekend. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYour pages are always so beautiful, what a wonderful place to journal or contemplate! Thanks for the pocket tutorial, it works wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pages! Your vintage designs look so pretty with all the stamping and empherea that you added 😁. I remember the pocket tutorial too as it inspired me to create one for a journal page last year - fabulous! It's been cold here but we have had sunshine too which made for some nice walks as long as we wrapped up warm; it's also been very frosty but no snow. Stay warm and wishing you a Happy Friday and a wonderful new week ahead! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteDear Astrid, you already know that I love these pages in your journal, -the writing in the first and the half covered original pages giving a hint of things happening b elow the gesso, which is looking very interesting, and the other amazing spread with the pocket filled with lovely papers .Simply beautiful !! Hugs, Dorthe
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy your Friday posts Astrid, your pages are wonderful, I love the medieval writing, your practice has really paid off! Hugs, Anne xx

Another load of beautiful journalwork here Astrid. Amazing pages with beautiful work in it. I love your lettering and how you´re building things up on each page. It just looks amazing every time, and I wish I was as clever as you.
ReplyDeleteMore beautiful pages for us to delight in, I really do enjoy exploring every detail and I know that as good as photography is there will be much much more to discover within those layers. Corner pockets are just the ticket for creating that extra space we need.
ReplyDeleteThe Boy certainly does look like he is waiting to get a move on, I can almost hear the drumming of his fingers hee hee!!
Wishing you all the best this weekend with much creativity.
Hugs Tracey xx
Ooh, beautiful medieval script - so evocative. The distressed layers on that first page give a real look of age and antiquity. I agree that chap is full of get up and go, also needed round here. (I've got to get up and go to Cheltenham for a few days' work to start with, and then Birmingham, and I also need to start thinking about the NYC packing!)
ReplyDeleteI love the journalling pocket, and the spareness of the stamping on the opposite page - ready to inspire you when you're ready to write.

vibrant and great art
ReplyDeleteWonderful work Astrid. I downloaded one if yr freebies the other day. It was the potting shed on in lovely aqua yellow tones. Unfortunately I mistakenly deleted it & can't find it anywhere. Can u send me in the right direction please. Also I wanted to change the inside to an old cabin look with a background of pots/pans table, fire etc but cannot find any that are suitable. I would even purchase a digikit but they are few & far between.I have tried Pinterest but no luck. Sorry to bend yr ear.😍💟
ReplyDeleteLots more inspiring ideas for would be journal makers. I admire the way you keep going when you start something. I always want to make a journal and do manage a few pages but then it stays there waiting for more.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day
Love Chrissie xx

ReplyDeleteI love your art journal pages - they are absolutely stunning Astrid! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAstrid, I do love your pages! Do you have these planned out? or do they just happen as you create? They always come together so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful vintage vibes-your journal could be sold in an antiquities shop!
