The Custodian

Hello friends, just a very quick post today to share my next project from Lifebook 2018, this was week 5.
This was probably my favourite class so far, the teacher was a fellow Dutch lady called Juna Biagoni, an amazing mixed media artist that does the most incredible soulful portraits. The portrait is called the Custodian, because she is the guardian of our resolves and intensions, she has her eyes closed, because she looks inward, into her own soul.

Like usual, I can't really share the techniques, but let me just say it mostly involved pastels, both hard and soft ones, layered on top of a textured base. It is so wonderful finally to use some of the art materials again that I have been hoarding for years...
Juna is a fantastic teacher and I am saving up already to do another of the classes she offers on her website. I just love her style...
Anyway, that's it for today. Hope you are having a creative week and see you next time.
Thank you for your visit like always
xxxxx

  2. She is amazing Astrid, so peaceful. The warmth you have captured within her face radiates so much positive thinking and hose textures left with each application of the pastels makes me want to hunt out mine right this very second. What a beautiful display piece, Thank you so much for sharing another of your Life Book creations with us all, i'm loving your journey.

  6. Hi Astrid, although I've already seen this on Facebook, I had to come here for another look. I'm so in love with your portrait and mad at myself for giving away pastels that were sitting in a drawer for years as I thought I would never use them. I would have liked to have tried this lesson, but I'm not sure it's 'me'. It certainly is a beautiful technique for your style and I look forward to seeing more from you. Take care, Shirleyxx (ps.. again it's great seeing you in the Lifebook group :) )
