She has a huge product line with American Crafts, available in Michaels stores, and her products are also widely available in the UK and elsewhere
I love the looseness of her portraits, without them becoming as stylised as some of the other artists out there. The background was done with some of her watercolours (pretty similar to the Prima sets I think), I then added detail with some of her water soluable crayons (they will only become available world wide from November, but she has them in her own shop here in Oz), and some coloured pencils and pens I had here anyway.
Embracing bright colours is always hard for me, but I am trying to break out into other ways of doing art. Having said that, my next page (and my own more favoured one) was done in more monochrome colours)
I love experimenting with different styles of faces, so expect to see more..... When I am back home and have my usual supply of stamps and inks, I may add further background detail still.
The penwork was done with a Sakura Micron pen and I was glad I had taken a white gelpen with me for some highlights.
Thank you for dropping in here like usual and have a happy weekend!

You drew these faces beautifully. I really like all of them, and they look far more realistic than some I've seen. These are simply fabulous for AJJ.

Oh my, what amazing paintings! You have captured such beauty and your ladies are bewitching with their mesmerising eyes - beautiful 😁. I love the way you have blended the colours across the page too, it's magical how you have shaded the warm to colder colours, those new paints suit you 😁. Have a wonderful weekend! J 😊
ReplyDeleteAstrid!!! You are a Picasso! LOVE your faces! You inspire me. Gorgeous subtle watercolor shading too...LOVE!
ReplyDeleteYou always surprise and delight with your Art Astrid. These portraits look like real people to me someone I could have a conversation with. Although I am a fan of bright colours, the second face really drew me in; I see wistful longing in her eyes. Beautiful.

Fabulous Astrid, so beautiful. Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteYes, I think you must have had blinkers on - JD projects are going great guns here though since they all seem to sit in the brighter colour zones I've managed to resist so far. I love your portraits - like you, the second one is the one which really appeals most strongly. I love the detail of both the watercolour shading and the penwork in the close up of her face - beautifully done. Looking forward to seeing more women appear...

Stunning work - you have a wonderful way with watercolours and I have to say I love the second one for the delicacy of the colours and for what you've left out - I really like the space you've left around her - it works beautifully.
