Well, I am still in full Christmas Card creation mode, and after having spent two Christmases in Australia, it was great fun to create a project with this theme. I know we are all busy, so below is just a quick step by step of how I got here:
I used one of my favourite background techniques for this card, - on a piece of hot press watercolour paper I used various Sprays: Distress in Stormy Sky and Faded Jeans, Perfect Pearls mist in the colour Perfect Pearl and a little Distress Brushed Pewter. I then covered it with clingfilm while the inks were still wet, crinkled the film and then let it dry over night.
For the next layer I adhered a small circular mask (cut from a large sticky note with a circle punch), inked around it with Distress Inks in Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire and then stamped in Chipped Sapphire Distress ink using one of the stamps from the Scribbled Woodland stamps and one of the trees from the Treeline stamp set, both by Tim Holtz. I also did some splatters with Picket Fence for a snowy effect.
It all looked a bit too wishy washy for my liking, so I cut two trees from the Sizzix Thinlits 660978, also by Tim. I cut them from card sprayed with Chipped Sapphire spray. I also stamped the sledge from the Mini Holidays set in a mix of Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot and then immediately embossed it with Black Sparkly EP.
A little die cut sentiment was added to finish it off and my card was pretty much done.
Below still a few details:
After adhering the trees to the background, I dabbed on some dimensional paint to the openings in the tree and sprinkled on some Distress Rockcandy Glitter dust for a little sparkle.
I did the same with the sentiment.
Here you can see some of the "Ice Crystal" effect of the cling film technique. I rather love the effect on the moon.
