A Box full of Hope...

Hello all and welcome.
As some of you know, I live in Scotland and this has been a very special week for us all here.
It started full of hope and excitement, and for many of us ended with a feeling of sadness for lost opportunities. But life must go on and new opportunities will come in different ways, Scotland will rise from the ashes like a phoenix.....

It seemed pertinent at the beginning of this new week to show you a project made with one of the new stamps designed by Sheena Douglas. This time I made a box using the beautiful Phoenix stamp and one of the sentiments that come with the set.

Some of you may have seen her show and all the new stamps last Friday on Create and Craft. There are 6 different sets of stamps, I had three sets to play with and will show you some other projects still in the following days. You can purchase the stamps either from Create and Craft of from Crafters Companion.

I made the box from Kraft card, created a background with Distress inks, Twinkling H2O some sprays and using the salt technique.
I stamped the phoenix with Versamark and then embossed with copper embossing powder. I coloured the phoenix with twinkling H20s and  adhered it to the box with foam tape for some extra depth. I then embellished with some flowers and the sentiment stamped in copper as well.

Happy Sunday and have a good week ahead!

  7. the Phönix seems to be the perfect fit right now. I only realized on Facebook that you were from Scottland. Last year we have been there, my daughter and I and we loved it. And there were no ashes :)

  9. Very beautiful box Astrid. I saw some of your work on the programme but all the things pass so quickly it was difficult to see details.

Strange how the vote went but I am sure it will make a difference to all of us North or South of the border.

    Love Chrissie x

  21. Oh Astrid ... art is so dear to me because it allows us to express what our heart feels in vivid color and often without words. I felt it with this piece. So incredibly stunning!! That phoenix stamp is incredible. I love the colors that you used. Your box background is the perfect foil for it. Beautiful! -- Mary Elizabeth

  22. Stunning box Astrid and like you I was very disappointed by the Referendum result, so your Phoenix is quite apt because the dream lives on as AS stated on Friday.

  23. Hello Astrid.
Even though I have made my home in NZ,I am still Welsh in my Heart and so I can relate to how the Scots who wanted independence from England feel. The vote was too close to not have another go in the future and I am confident that this will happen.
The word united in this case is a misnomer, many people are frightened of change.
Anyway, your Box...It is gorgeous, the design and palette is very attractive to the eye.
    Smiles:)

  32. It all seems so flat after the lively debate, anticipation and excitement. I sneaked downstairs in the early hours of the morning (spurred on by the call of nature which woke me from my slumber LOL) because I knew I had to discover if a declaration had been made at that time - which it had.
This is stunning, exquisite colours. You never cease to take my breath away with the way you so expertly handle colours and it is as though they glow when in your hands.
