All about Him for a Vintage Journey

Hello everyone, great to have you drop in here today as it is our new challenge over at A Vintage Journey.
The lovely Anne Redfern is the host this time and she chose "All about Him" as her theme.

Now to be honest, I never find men themes particularly easy, but with Fathers Day not all that far away, I decided to make an 8 x 8" lay out, dedicated to fathers everywhere in the world.

I started by choosing a piece of paper from Tim's new 8 x 8 Menagerie collection and then gathered some bits and pieces from amongst my ephemera (most of these coming from the various Tim Holtz ephemera collections), that I thought would fit together and match the colour scheme I had in mind:
The vocal image is from the "Found Relatives" pack, I also used the back of one of the Cabinet cards.
I cut the found relative with one of my Spellbinders card creator dies, and then sanded and inked the edges of both the image and the cabinet card, to make them look old and distressed.

Next I decided I wanted to tone down and alter my background paper a little with some gesso, ink and stamping, I also added some strips of Tissue Tape.:
Then came the fun of layering all the bits and pieces up until I was happy with the result:
Finally I mounted it onto a piece of mount board for strength. Below you can still see some close ups:
Careful layering of elements around the main photo. In the final LO some other bits and pieces were added still to my first collection of bits and pieces, others were discarded. Thats the fun with playing around with a collage like this.
Some chipboard letter tiles to spell the word Dad, al carefully sanded and scuffed up first and layered over some strips of torn book paper with gothic script.

A metal embellishment, rescued from another project, I'm afraid to say I have no idea where that one came from.
Well, that's it. Hope you like my Dad lay out. Make sure to check out the A Vintage Journey blog to see the amazing projects my team mates have created, and of course we all hope you'll pull out your collection of male supplies and play along. Make sure though to read the challenge rules carefully, this is a Tim Holtz inspired challenge and only those who follow our guidelines will qualify for the prize, a £10 voucher from Countryview Crafts.

Thank you for visiting today and have fun crafting!!

All in all the details are exquisite and you are one of very few, if any, that can create such an amazing project. It seems so completely natural to you.
