Journaling in a different mood

Hello everyone and lovely to have you drop by here.

It's been a bit quiet here in the last few days, because I've been down with the flu, but I am slowly getting back to normal, so today I wanted to share another double page in my positivity journal with you.

A very different mood from the last one, which you can see here, but using very similar techniques: Layers of Gesso, texture paste through stencils, background stamping and on this one also some stamping on tissue paper, and of course colour. For this journal I am mainly using Gelatos and Distress Paints, both of which I love because of their translucency.
Here are some closer views
The wording was done with the little Tim Holtz letter stickers, the stencils this time are all from Tim too.
This side has a pocket for journaling spots again. I made it with the help of a Spellbinders die which I ran through a Sizzix/Tim Holtz embossing folder before colouring and embellishing a bit.
I love how when you blend out the Gelatos over Gesso you get this lovely distressed, faded look around the edges.
Rather than making tags this time, I created a little accordion folded mini book to fit inside the pocket and to provide plenty of space for journaling.
As you can see, I decorated the one side (with little scraps of a very old collection of Graphics 45 papers, I think it was called Botanical or something). The other side was left blank to record my daily positive thoughts.
Well, that's it for today. The journal is getting pretty fat and bulky already and we are only half way through January, I have no idea what it will be like (and whether it will still close) a few months down the line, - I may have to start another one....

Thank you for taking the time to visit like always and stay happy, inky and creative!!

  32. So glad you're feeling better Astrid, the flu can be a real bitch can't it?? Another stunning page for your journal. Brilliant colour as always (I am in awe, as always) and I love your little pocket. Looks amazing as does the little accordion booklet!! I just want to say I really love this project. My booklet is not as colourful as yours (not as professional) but I am so enjoying the process. It is very relaxing and it's going to be so nice at the end of the year, looking back on the positive things that happened. Thank you so much for the inspiration!! ox

  41. Hello Astrid! Oh my goodness..you've done it again! Your art journal is absolutely breathtaking! I love the butterflies of your take out little book. So lovely. Your blue/green background and stamped pages are such lovely blended colors. LOVE THEM! I also love the stamping in black and the white accents on the numbers. Your art truly is amazing and I am always so inspired by it. I also wanted to thank you so much for your very very sweet comment you left on my blog regarding my last post for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. It's bittersweet but I am so looking forward to the unknown...and the next bend in the road. I am so happy to hopefully now have some time to start my positivity journal. I love that idea and am itching to get going on mine! Thanks for the inspiration! <3 Candy

  42. Your Positivity Journal is looking wonderful Astrid. These two pages are ruly stunning with gorgeous colours and content. As always your choice and balance of embellishments is really beautiful and the little concertina booklet is a very special addition.

I do hope you are free of the nasty flu bugs now. There do seem to be lots of folk suffering with various germs at the moment. Perhaps the beautiful frosty day we have here will help to kill a few of them off ;-)
