After a two week break Gothic Arches is back and this week the theme was Mermaids. Here's my contribution. The background was adirondac inks and gesso, then I altered an image with a mixture of twinkling H2Os and pens, added some stamps and finally some fibres.
The theme today at Saturday's workout is to use gesso. I have a big pot, but so far had not used it much other than for priming, though funnily enough i had wanted to try it with collgae this weekend anyway, so i was really pleased when I saw it was a theme on a challenge site. I created a 6 x 6" collage, using diffenrent papers, stamping etc. and ofcourse gesso to tie it all together. I've called it Dreams of Innocence, because that's what the image (which is from Chicks57, suggested to me.
My favourite holiday has to be Christmas., so I decided to make my very first Christmas card. Not very seasonal, and I felt a bit weird, but maybe not a bad thing to start early for once. The image is stamped and embossed, then spunged over and matted on paper coloured with moonshadow inks, and ofcourse then embellished with some ribbon and cord.
The challenge today at Created by Hand was to alter something. Decided to alter a tag which I had lying around anyway. First primed it with gesso, then painted in copper acrylic. Collaged over it, spunged adirondac inks over the collage to tone the coloures together and finally embellished with some fibres.
The theme this week is Hands. Great theme, I love hands. Unfortunately though, I don't own any stamps with hands, so i resorted to an image and chose Durers "Praying Hands". The little saying fitted the theme for me. Thanks for looking...
The theme this week is artists. I chose Sulamith Wulfing, one of my favourites, particularly when I am in a sort of romantic sentimental mood. I took 3 of her images, collaged them and then over spunged, over stamped and generally altered them. I've called the final thing "butterfly child".
The challeng on Theme Thursday this week was Fairies. I don't normally do "cute", but i could not resist this little image... Background is coloured with colorbox chalk pads, then stamped with adirondack dye ink.
Here is my contribution for this week's TMTA challenge. The theme was "round". Some thing to do with football championships.... oh dear, I am so not in to sport, specially not football. Anyway, I did the background a few days ago then sponged and stamped with various stamps, blocked out a circle and finally added the central image mounted on a punched out circle again. Obviously then the thing was finished with some round brats.
I'm involved in a round robin journal with some amazing crafters. As they are putting their first pages on their blogs I'm starting to feel smaller and smaller :o(
I did my first page quite a while ago, then last week I thought it looked too buzy so I did another one, now after seeing some of the others I'm thinking oh dear, maybe I'll do it a third time, - but then hey, I guess I have to acccept that everyone is different and this happens to be my style, and as teacher i do like my theme "Children of a Bygone Age".
A new challenge blog. Like the idea, the size is 6" x 4". The theme this week was Summer. My immediate association was "Midsummer Night's Dream". The card i made is quite dark and maybe not very summery, but it's raining here and at least it captures my mood... dreamy with a little magic touch, at least that was the idea...
Just got a whole lot of new stamps from a brilliant place called the Stamp Smith. This is the image that I first saw on Docraft and really liked. I asked the friend who has used it in an ATC, where she got it. Well she borrowed it from a friend who got it from ebay as a one off. But.... it had a title. I googled the title, and hey presto found the site. They have great stamps and offer a really friendly fast service. I highly recommend them!
